FS7: New Sony F7 XDCAM 4K Super 35mm Camcorder

I emailed my supplier and they haven't even answered. Their date were until yesterday October 29 but today there's no date. I don't expect my FS7 to arrive for another month right now.

I really wonder how much each sales rep actually knows. I'm hoping mine comes in next week and I'm not just getting the stock answer. Need to put it through its paces and get to know it inside out before a December project. So close to delivery it would be painful to rent something.

My dealer here in germany received at least 1 (!) FS7... Wow!

I'm no.6 in line and they can't say if they receive a larger badge soon.

Honestly I think we need to wait until mid november.

What I'm most curious to know at this point, is if this F7S thread will exceed the F5 & F55 thread views. It has already surpassed the F3 thread views:

And No I don't have anything better to do today.

Ouch. How large is your dealer? I'm assuming they are using it as a demo until they get more than 1 to start filling orders. Ya I'm hoping my dealer gets 5-10 but who knows. Your right it is looking like mid November is more realistic. I don't believe my dealer really knows they just keep telling me original date (1st week of Nov).

I finally got through to one of the "old timers" ay B&H, who in turn talked to the Sony purchasing agent. They are telling me mid to late November, despite being "very high" on the pre-order list.

In retrospect, I guess Able Cine NYC would have been the place to call on the morning of Sept. 12... the guys who made that choice seem to be getting cameras.

The actuality of it is that of the 20 something US authorized resellers for this product, a handful are are incredibly popular and well known nationwide. These resellers likely have a much longer list of preorders than some of the more regional resellers, but they may not be receiving priority treatment from Sony. Hence, you may have a longer wait by going with a more well known reseller.

Videovation - Understood. I actually talked to a couple smaller, reputable stores I've dealt with in the past, and in both cases they told me that Sony had told them not to expect any FS7's until December. Patience is what it's going to take I guess...

Samy's DV LA already shipped my camera and I should receive it by tomorrow morning. I'll be shooting a Dorritos spec commercial this weekend and share some examples!

Actually it's good to wait and get the second or third batch. If there's some things wrong it's usually noticed when the first batch are in users hands and gets correct on coming batches. I know my retailer will show the camera tomorrow so they've at least got one unit.

Has Sony said anything about when larger shipments would hit North America? I think I should be in the first batch to Canada dealers.

No specific word about larger shipmets. We received cameras and began shipping as of yesterday. There is no telling when "larger shipments" are coming. Sony US may pay for air freight of an initial order of cameras while the containers are on the boat. This might explain why some folks were told mid November. If a retailer /dealer paid for expedited freight from Sony they would have received their allotment ahead of places that don't...

My first impression: I shouldn't have joked about Osslund waiting for his delivery since my new Swit BPU batteries don't work with the camera - I get an error message followed by a shutdown. Powering up the Sony battery as I type...
