New Snowboarding Footage

Re: New Snowboarding Footage

Cool. That first tree ride is nuts! What mountain is this at? And how were you shooting most of it?

Re: New Snowboarding Footage

It was all shot at Sierra at Tahoe, which is a kickass spot. All of it in that clip was hand held. I would just go down towards the jump or whatever, unstrap and setup. Durning that first tree slide it was snowing. So I had to wrap the camera in some plastic, which works fine.

Re: New Snowboarding Footage

Footage very steady and looked as good and comparible to most snowboarding videos i've seen. Keep up the good work!

Re: New Snowboarding Footage

gosh i wish where i rode had that nice of park... i guess i should probably post some of my footage. i'll see what i can do.

Re: New Snowboarding Footage

we shoot lots of wintersports and heard the progressive mode makes for bad actionjerkinesss (on PAL DVX). can you confirme that? do you shoot in interlaced when doing snowboard?
we are considering a DVX but need it often for ski-snowboard-stuff

Re: New Snowboarding Footage

No, I shot in 24P Adv. But I was thinking about using 60i for some slow-mo stuff I might want to do in the video. By the way, I'm using an NTSC DVX. But it shouldn't be to different for you.

most all snowboard films now are shot almost if not exclusively on 16, so i wouldn't worry about the jerkiness due to the frame rate. although it seems like a lot of the shots are somewhat overcranked as well so the slow motion quality of it too helps smooth any jerkiness.
just locking the person when panning fast would remedy the problem. i guess it's all dependent on what type of shot it is.

Re: New Snowboarding Footage

nice work.. I cant remember that damn song though... who was it again? I wanted to say Jugheads Revenge but I dont think thats its. Loved that song back in the day :)

Re: New Snowboarding Footage

Its "No Use for a Name" and the track is Until its Gone. Their earlier stuff is really kickass. I haven't heard too much of their new stuff. Thanks for the comments. I'm going up again to get some more footage at the beginning of this week. This video is going to take some time...
