Same here. I bought it after an email from them stating false color will come
 
How does false color work? Glad to see that the SMALLHD engineers are listening to their customers. Looks like we will see fast firmware updates!

Firmware updates are killer. Each revision is like getting a new monitor. The new DSLR mode is pretty awesome. It auto-switches between the standby and record mode on 5d/550d, meaning you don't have to touch the monitor at all to keep the screen filled with just the image. Really earned the title "DP-SLR"... except they didn't end up naming it that. hehe.

Case for DP6

If anyone is interested I found a great case option for the DP6. Its not the cheapest option but I already had a Pelican 1200 case, I took the pluck foam all out except the the outermost layer and then put in the foam from the SmallHD DP6 packaging box. Perfect fit! I cant think of a better way to transport.

anyone having trouble with the image flip eventually flipping the menu aswell? Its kinda annoying. I emailed smallhd , hopefully they can fix that. Or is it something im doing wrong.

My email to SMALLHD

I loved the tutorial of the canon 5d preset. I dont have a canon 5d but it was interesting to see what the preset does and why its there.

I have a canon xh-a1 , 35mm adapter (SG Blade) with nikor lenses that I just started playing with. I was wondering if theres any type of preset that you guys can come up with to make my life easier with the 35mm adapter or canon xh-a1 or both? For example , indoors mode or outdoors mode? Probably be useful for others aswell.

What functions would you like to see as a result of that preset? I am not familiar with your setup, so i don't know what things would make your life easier with that specific rig. The more specific you get the more i can help you. Other than image flip, i can't see what else would be specifically useful in that configuration.

Please let me know, because we like getting this kind of feedback and could definitely make something work for you at some point (if it isn't highly specific to you're situation and could be applied to others as well). Thanks!


Anyone have any ideas? Im not experienced enough with my setup to think of any key presets.

Its nice to see that this company is listening.

I'm hoping that smallhd gets successful enough that the parts suppliers will compete for their account. In the meantime... the dp6 is SO worth waiting for.
 
Same here. I wasn't completely happy at first, but after a couple of shooting days, I'm starting to really love it. Very usefull focus assist on pack shot still life. Very lightweight on noga arm, very low power consumption. I have yet to use sdi, but for dslr it's pretty good

SmallHD sent my company two monitors to test out on a large 5D production shoot. I just finished my two day shoot and I want to buy them right now.

The monitor is very sharp. The image looks very clear, making focusing quite easy. I love that the monitor includes peaking. That is what I used for all of my shooting today and I nailed all the critical focus pulls.

The only downside that I could find is the price...but for the quality, I think it is totally worth it. I try to keep my gear costs down and didn't really want to spend the money for it, but after shooting with it on a handheld rig with my 5D, I am sold on it!!
 
the new firmware is out , but does not address the image flip , menu flip. It would be nice to see my image correctly without the menu folders being upside down.


anyone else having that problem using image flip?



the new false color option is sweet. i like at the touch of a button i can have false color or focus assist
 
Using a canon xh-a1 i hit the switch for color bars test pattern and it looks like the DP6 clips below black information. Does anyone agree with that? I can clearly see below black in canons small lcd monitor but can not adjust the dp6 to show that info. I played with backlight , brightness , gamma , and none of these options helps fix that. i wanted to get your feedback before reporting this bug. Im using the component inputs on the DP6.

How did the scaling work with this. It's suppose to auto adjust--does it. May have to sell my Mahattan LCD--it doesn't auto scale with the 5d :(
