New Small Digital Production Recorders

Hello
Our Company is tooling up on sound gear .

I can only remember the little Maranzt unit avaiable from on line sources and Location Sound In LA.

Id appreciate if you folks can share some links to good online mail order or local Los Angeles sources for Buying Small production quality recorder that record digital sound at 16 bit or better .
We have Good mics and dont mind buying another rugged shot gun . We are doing a lot of desert shooting .

Depends what you mean by "production quality" recorder. Zoom, MicroTrack, Edirol R4, etc all record at 16 or better and are really cheap but are lack most features desired by video production recording.

A lot depends on what you are trying to do and what budget you are working with.

Look at the Tascam HD-P2 form Oade Brothers, they upgrade so it has 6db more and cleaner gain with the superupgrade. I love mine.

Thanks Guys -all these responses are helpfull.
The answer to the first comment is we wish to lookat .
Low cost afforable 200-400
which will capture dialouge on location for dvd output .
then we need to look at the higher end 1000- 2000 which may give us more dynamic response through controls etc
we still keep our nagra 3 tape recorders on hand for high pressure signals and for in studio use .
