New slider from Edelkrone

Very interesting design, lovely to see an innovative take on the common slider. If that heavier duty version becomes a reality it could be very interesting.

I'm finding the 3' Kessler Cineslider the most appealing option for portable stuff at the moment as it's small enough to mount to a single tripod (for quick setup), and it has protective plating around the outside of the slider to protect the rails from being damaged.

I'm not sure a low-hat will work: you need to have the center of gravity within your legs. Easy for a tripod, not so sure about a low-hat: bigger ones will work, small ones probably won't. That's why I said "a 2-feet-long piece of wood": that will definitely work (unless it flexes).

I'm not sure a heavy duty version would work. Could be that you would need a very strong tripod and head to support the weight as a heavy camera slides out to either end, or it could topple over. That's why I put the pedestal under it in the slider in my little heavyweight mockup.

I think it would need some massive support. A traditional slider with supports at each end, or a jib, are the best options for a heavier camera. Or something like in the video below, which shows a really heavy setup. I think it's pretty clear that you couldn't do a heavy load on a slider using a single tripod unless you use counterweights.... The HD version runs just under $10,000.

Anyone that ordered, I have been trying to make my order for a couple days now and I can't seen to get the PayPal portal to work with edelkron site. Anyone else having this issue? I have my own account and have tried CC and bank transfer, no avail.

Hey guys,

My Slider+ just landed in my hands. First off, packaging top notch. Like opening an Apple product. Great little box with a nice foam cut insert that will transfer to a carrying case if one wishes.

The slider is built very well. Exceeded my expatiation. I bought the slider as a very portable solution for fast corporate work, travel, and tight spaces. It's perfect! Set it up and my very light run and gun carbon sticks mounted on the Kessler low profile ball head with a light head (my travel solution). Mounted the camera (Gh3 for now) and tried my first slide. WOW! Super uber duper smooth! It's brilliant!

I have a few sliders. The Kessler 3ft cineslider and a couple Konova sliders (and my floor dolly). The Slider+ is easily the smoothest of them all.

I took a couple picts and test shots that I'll upload in a few.

Worth every penny and if they make a 2 ft version that travels 4ft and supports say 30 lbs, I'd buy it in a heart beat!

Hi Dustylense
Can I ask what date you ordered/paid, I have asked when mine is shipping as they originally said the 4th, I ordered 24th Dec.
The reply just says I will have it within a week, which didn't happen this past week.
Not even had my tracking number.
Thanks
C

I think I ordered around the 20th of Dec. Check your account with them. THey sent me a tracking # and it took like 3 days to get here to LA from Turkey. SO far I REALLY like the slider. Hang in there. It's worth the wait.

Chris,

How noisy is the Slider+ compared to the CineSlider?

Thanks,
B
Not a peep comes out of the slider! Was playing with it last night and all I could think of was how brilliant it's design/concept is. It's kinda of weird when you look at how small it is, then you do a slide and it's just keeps going. I haven't really mounted anything heavy yet, but when I put the Gh3 on it and turn on the digital bubble level, it's stays perfectly level from end to end. Then, the fact there is so many ways to make it travel like by pushing the camera or pushing the end of the slider.

I posted some quick Iphone shots and a dropbox of playing around with the slider over at BMCuser: http://www.bmcuser.com/showthread.php?2183-Tricky-new-slider-from-Edelkrone/page3

You'll see how I mounted the slider on some light carbon sticks. The whole thing weighs maybe 6-7 lbs.

I ordered mine on the 24th and I still haven't gotten confirmation shipment, guessing I'm in the second batch.

Mine arrived 4 days after shipping, Turkey to Japan.

The quality is excellent, using a FS100 on it and handles the weight no problem on a Manfrotto 546GB tripod.

The little rubber feet have already come unstuck from the adjustable feet, no problem though as a bit of glue will refix those back on.

Well worth the wait, now it's in my hands.
