Hey guys this is a short we put together as a continuation of my other short RETRIBUTION. We put this film together with a $3,000 production budget. I own my own equipment, all the actors donated their time, and the music and sound design were done for free.

If the response is good, maybe we'll shoot the third part. Hopefully the 3rd part will just be all talking... sitting and talking. Cuz this was a *****.

Please check it out when you have a minute.

I really enjoyed that at all levels. Lighting and acting esp. well done.

Can I ask though...why all the camera movement in the opening scene around the boardroom table. (Didnt make sense to me and I found it distracting from what was excellent acting performances and the tension... It seemed to suggest another person in the room)

BTW - dont tell people what it cost. You are setting a precendent and establishing what you and your crew consider your value is.

Great film. Good acting. Good lighting. No complaints here. Reminded me of Peter Berg film, which is a good thing to me. It looked much more expensive then 3 grand to me.

Excellent as usual. You make the stock lens look great. Who needs adapter when they soften everything? Good luck with your stuff. You are one of the best around here.

Could you tell us--200 or 200a?

Ooops, I saw it's a 200a. Congrats here. Makes me want to get the same camera!

Love acting, casting, color, pacing. Especially like the washed out look of the black man walking in out of the light. He's a scary dude!

I agree, however, to my tastes, too much shakiness around the medium shots in the beginning -- people around the table.

If you look at TV show 24, which I guess is a super high budget variant of this style, the cam is floating slowly during those kinds of shots but not bouncing like that.

Easy for me to criticize, I've never done anything half this good.

You got 80% of the quality of 24 with about 1/100 of the money. Talent.

Yeah budgets can vary so much, I mean it's almost more important what it should cost rather than what it did. The short I just shot was $8,500, and we still had tons of people working way below their rates or donating time to the production, had a location donated for free, second location was a massive discount (restaurant for a day for $500), yet even still it was $8,500. We easily could have spent $15,000 on it.

this looked good.

what do you think a majority of your $2500k was spent on?

i didn't like the shakiness during the dialogue scenes either.

i loved all the action scenes, i thought the talking coulda been cut sown some though.

Light and acting is top notch.

Don´t like the shaky camera, but that´s a personal thing - I hate any kind of hand/shoulder camera - even most mativated.

No offence, I was realy "WOW" till the shooting scene.
I can´t tell exactly what it is, but for me it somehow starts draging there.
Something feels not right, but I can´t nail it down in the moment.

Otherwise great job.

Nice job, but the same as the others.

- shaky conference room shots, didn't really go. Maybe a shot or two, but not thru the whole scene.

I think maybe it was the gun smoke and muzzle flash's that didn't really match. I also would have added bullet hole decals or something to the car/trucks.

Anyway great camera work, color grading, acting !!

thank you for posting.

Thanks

Thanks

I really appreciate you guys taking the time to check out the film.

I don't really remember the camera settings. They were really nothing special. I do most of the colorization and the black crunching in post. I edit in FCP and use a little Magic Bullet.

I agree with the hand held. I did over do it a bit, Especially in the board room. This whole film was really just a giant experiment. I had never really done action film and figured I'd try my hand at it. I would have loved to put bullet holes in everything, but the vans were white and blown out, and I just couldn't get things to look right. Even the muzzle flashes aren't your typical flashes. I just didn't like the look of the standard flashes. They looked extra fake and I just didn't buy it.

We did the best we could with the budget we had. A lot of people busted their but and I'm super grateful to everyone.

Thanks for watching guys, it is greatly appreciated.

Jeremy
