NEW Rode Blimp fits most shotguns.

I have a quick question.
What's the fur made of, on all these?
Just wondering if it's real fur or not.

Yes, the Rycotes are mink...that's why they are so expensive

No, the are all synthetic.

All of this debate brings me back to the phrase "It ain't about what's best, it's about what's best for you"

This is a mechanical device. It holds and isolates a mic while minimizing/stopping wind noise. The only additional nuances I can think of are durability, weight and how easily it goes together/comes apart. If it does that to your specs at a price you are willing to pay, you are done. I could care less if Rycote keeps selling to people with deep pockets, but if there is a comparable product at a significantly lower price, I'm going to look at it. That's money I can spend elsewhere. I bought a couple of Micover windscreens earlier this year and I would put them up against Rycote softies any day, at a bit more than half the price.

So True!
Remembering back, I first had the pleasure of using Rycote in 1980 as a tv audio trainee, it was the all pressed metal shell / cloth zepplin with the 815, it could even be panel beaten if need be. For me Rycote is THE trade mark and always will be. Besides I still at present need a Rycote to run an 816, for the time being I guess? I ordered a Rode Blimp last week to add to the kit, too cheap not to. However personally I don't like the idea of running two different formats if dual booms are required posing the question. Do I change over to a different format with less range of options at present, plus potentially ,more cost to do this!
cheers.
