Check out my new music video
Farewell to Freeway(signed to victory records)
Sound Minds

This video was completed in a two week span from conception to delivered product. Directed by the team at Illusivemedia.com with a rediculously small budget. All shot on hvx-200, edited in FCP and composited in after effects with color correction done in COLOR.

Some interesting facts

None of the band members were filmed together all seperate and then composited.

we blew up a car and after wards it was still driveable.

let me know what you think.

I enjoyed the music video! I thought the CC job was pretty unique.

How did you composite the band members together?

Also, what type of lighting did you use in the car, and when he is running (dolly shot)?

Good job!

ALl shots of each member were shot separately on greenscreen then used after effects to composite together. Band is currently on tour so we shot them after they did a show for an all nighter(11pm to 9am the next day)

The lighting in the car was a small kino flow i believe..(i wasnt there for that shoot.) The street stuff was just an Arri kit with a few softboxes strategically placed. The running scene was shot from the back of a pick up truck. I manned the camera and kept it relatively steady with the help of a unipod and another guy held a light hooked up to a generator.

thanks for feedback.

I thought it was pretty cool. I liked the effects of the mysterious guy appearing and disappearing.. and the fact you got to blow up a car was pretty cool. Good stuff!

I really enjoyed how the editing reflected the melancholy nature of the song, how the fast cutting and frantic camera moves really worked emotionally with the music's tone. That's something really critical to nail in a music video and I thought you did it!

All around an enjoyable music video, it had the cool factor, it was engaging enough I wanted to keep watching what happened, etc. Very good work.

Sebassttiann if you get a chance, check out my music video and see what you think! It's here on the first page still, the Dual HVX rock video one.

Thanks guys i really appreciate the comments. We just wished we had more time but victory was just pushing on top of us to get it all done. We originally were going to have more then just empty black space in the background we had generated smoke and lights in AE but the band wanted a more limbo sort of effect and less special effects (minus the amps since they are sponsored by the amp manufacturer, those are fake if nobody noticed)

the car was not necesarily blown up but rather large amount of explosives were detonated from a barrel on top of the hood. was shot on a old abandoned air field in pungo virginia beach. car still drove even thought he force of the explosion pushed the barrel into the hood quite a bit.

main actor was a pain in the ass and tough to work with but definately fit the role if you knew him personally we had no trouble asking him to "act frantic and psychotic"

Other then that uhh yeah thanks again keep it coming :-)
