C300: New R5 firmware out - Cinema Raw Light, Clog3 and more recording options

The entire concept of building up the body to resemble some sort of exotic safari bird is absurd.

Ha. Reminds me of a YouTube video I skimmed today.

I actually understand the form factor for the C70. What I don't understand is why there is no EVF. They could have at least made it compatible with the C500 EVF or monitor. Great on a gimbal or locked down on a tripod. Kind of a really weird form factor otherwise.

That's something. I get it and I've done it - we all have - but it truly can't be enjoyable, lol.

As far as an EVF, totally. Mentioned in post #10 of even having the option in the next models. Maybe something like the new Blackmagic if doable/desirable (if not Canon's compatibility).

I tested clog3 and I found it bit disappointing. No noticeable plus in dynamic range but more noise in the shadows. Also the log view assistant seems to be quite off. In clog it’s pretty accurate and I use it sometimes on the gimbal. In clog3 an additional monitor is mandatory. Raw lite is nice but not what I use often. I will dig a bit deeper in Cinema Gamut color space but at the first look the effort of matching clog or clog3 to the C300iii clog2 is not so different.

Kind of a let down but as to be expected with Canon who always strongly segments their offerings. Which is fair. Why give away a C300 level image for the R5 price? DR is some of the only currency left in the camera space.

Canon decided to add Clog3 and they could have done it properly according to what they do in other cameras.
I find it quite frustrating that Canon couldn't even supply a decent monitoring lut for clog3.

If they limit the camera to clog no problem because that's what I purchased.

I have to put what I said into perspective. The view assist for clog3 is still odd but if you overexpose about 1 - 1.5 stops it does not look so bad. Colors are very very nice in Cinema Gamut color space.
