According to one of the French DV fora (http://www.dvforever.com/breve.php3?id_breve=151) Adobe has announceed (or will announce today at NAB) the new 1.5 upgrade for Premiere Pro.

Amongst a host of new features, Premiere Pro would become able to process native 24P video... but I haven't found confirmation of that anywhere... I've asked... Waiting for confirmation... Does anyone know more about this ? Below is the pic that went with the announcement :

well, it wouldnt be a huge suprise.. :) they had plans to do it for a while now..just a matter of time. it just makes me happy that my workflow will be easier if this happens to be the time.. which ive heard from numerous scources that it is. perhaps people who disliked earlier versions of premiere will stop bashing it now. ppro is really a great peice of software.. its pretty much the same as AE but for editing, and not compositing and special tasks and such.

being able to save your effects parameters is very very nice. ive put in alot of requests to adobe through differnt channels, and alot of them have been implemented in this version. of course im sure alot of people requested the same things :) im looking forward to firing it up on my comp!

This is awesome!  Looks like its only $99 for the CD upgrade from PPro too...wow!

"Premiere Pro 1.5 is expected to ship in late May 2004"

Re: New Premiere Pro (1.5) goes native ?

When colour correcting 24P native footage, would you use an NTSC monitor? Does it automatically add a pulldown? or do you just not get to colour correct thru NTSC?

Re: New Premiere Pro (1.5) goes native ?

::) Thanks for the info. I just called adobe and purchased the adobe video professional collection upgrade for $250 (pre-order). The Panasonic 24P/24PA support
is quite a jump let alone the ability to utilize after effects plug-in compatibility and clipboard support as well as color correction and improved integration with photoshop. This sounds like a complete winner. Somehow I was really lucky just purchasing the 100a and now Adobe arrives on the scene with supportive software. Cool. Dave

Hi Dave,

Can you tell me what number you called ? I'd like to check whether the 24P native also applies to 25P native for PAL land.

Thanks !

I called this number 888-724-4508 which is customer service but they sent me over to the pre-release section who had to check for me on a question I had. So, expect to be handed off if you call them. If I can help in any other way let me know. I checked the Adobe forum but there was no info regarding 25p on the new release but there were only a couple questions regarding the release date. Dave

Re: New Premiere Pro (1.5) goes native ?

I wonder if these are additional plug ins since the last premiere pro had magic bullet plug ins as well. Anyway, it looks like this is quite the improvement for only a .5.

..its the same plugin with the first 10 presets, you can buy 40 additional presets for 50.00 but the orphanage/red giant software just came out with magic bullet for editors which of course has all the controls and ability to tweak and save, and change all the parameters of the magic bullet looks suite as a plugin right into your nle .. check it out here

http://www.redgiantsoftware.com/mbforeditors.html

really no reason to spen the 50.00 for only presets that you cant change when you can have the full package for 300.00 pretty soon.. might as well start saving.. :)

Doesn't Premiere already do 25P? I thought all cuts were made in PAL timelines with a 25P timebase (as in you cant cut on a field)

Re: New Premiere Pro (1.5) goes native ?

I just got off the phone with Adobe pre-release section, and they confirmed that the upcoming 1.5 *will* support the 25P mode for PAL projects. Yay ! ;D

P.S.: I'll post this in the Premiere/Premiere Pro section as well.
