New plasma or LED lighting?

Anyone find any cool new lighting kits at NAB yet? I saw the Hive plasma light, that was cool. Looking for anything else that might be worth looking into. I'm wanting to pick up a few air-travel friendly lights.

I have them and like them. But the spectral distribution graph is bullshit. There is no way to get a continuous spectrum out of fluorescent lighting, even with these Kinos. I know because I've tested them with a spectrometer.

I've watched a few of the videos from NAB and in most of them, the camera work is terrible - bad framing, poor and slow focus etc. why is that? Surely these guys filming are pro's? Maybe not? ;)

Crazy enough, s35 is for intent, not casual event videography.

I recently posted this video of the Scorpion light.

I shot all of my NAB 2014 videos with the Panasonic AC90. The only issues I had was the audio in a few of the videos. Lest just say I sort of thought it would be a bit natural with the background noise but a few of the videos had a bit too much background noise. For NAB 2015, I should put a lav on the rep or at least put a shotgun mic on the camera. Now that's if I go next year. No gaurantee. I'm still a little shocked that I actually went this year. I've been wanting to go for many years but never did until this year.

Cinemills showed a great small soft led light

They are a great company who's LEDs hold the color temp when dimmed unlike many, they make solid strong gear for Pros not cheap LEDs that are not color balanced. They also make a bright LED china ball and killer LED spots. Their LEDs have been used to light the red carpet at the Academy Awards for years.

This LED fresnel looks interesting: http://vimeo.com/91873631
Light output is similar to 200w hmi fresnel. I like weight and form factor, and color quality is supposedly up there with hmi.

A few months ago we borrowed a Zylight F8 Fresnel from the distributor. The initial version needed a minor modification so hopefully that's been implemented.

A bit bulkier then I expected but overall it's great light so we'll be picking up at least one.
