I have a question regarding a piece of equipment that I haven’t ever seen before until today. Two of them are shown in a picture of Lars Von Trier and Jorgen Leth, along with two camera operators, in an article in the Boston Sunday Globe entitled “A filmmaker tries to confound his mentor”. The article is about Lars Von Trier’s new movie “The Five Obstructions”, and the picture shows what I’m assuming is the filming of a scene in that movie. It is of Von Trier and Jorgen Leth walking down the street, accompanied by two camera-operators, each holding a small video camera inside some sort of stabilization device that looks like a handlebar wrapped around the camera. I’m hoping someone on here has seen the article/picture or maybe recognizes what kind of device it is from my description. They may even be custom jobs by the guys in the picture for all I know, but they seem really helpful. Anyone have any ideas?
