In case anyone has missed it, Panasonic has a new camera announcement scheduled for Sept. 12 at 10AM (eastern time US). The rumor is that it is a new MicroFourThirds camera, and there is a lot of whispering that it will be an updated version of the G9.

Be that as it may, Panasonic has a habit of announcing new firmware updates when a new camera comes out. I'm hoping that's the case, and that there is an interesting new update for the GH6.

To watch a live video of the announcement, there is a video window here: https://www.digitalcameraworld.com/news/live/live-watch-the-panasonic-camera-launch-right-here

This is definitely a Panasonic G9 mk2, with the autofocus from the Panasonic S5mk2 (which will then put MFT autofocus on par with the very best).

Thoroughly tested a S5IIX recently and its AF is far from the very best.

A 10/10 for Panasonic as far as improving their AF, but they are behind Sony and Canon and they still have some work to do.

[General note: If anyone ever needs AF from the S5IIX, make sure you test how it especially performs in 4K/60p and see if that's OKAY for you. Obviously don't always go by YouTube because shots can be cherry-picked, and lenses, per usual, matter.]

Blackmagic is also rumoured to announce a camera very very soon as well.

My wild speculation is that it will be a groundbreaking stereo 360VR camera using 16K braw files, with built in 3rd order ambisonics audio (in 32bit of course)
