New P2 Mac/Win Drivers online for download.

theres multiple drivers in the zip, its just kind of a mess. you can get all the info on the panasonic download page though if you can sort through it. This driver is intel based as well as coincides with the Duel Adapter.

Excellent find!

The PC version of the driver has Vista in the file name, so this is probably the much-anticipated update.

Edit: Following the installation, I now also see a 64-bit Windows version of the driver on my system.

what linux software uses p2?

Nothing uses P2 directly, however Raylight runs just fine in Wine, and several programs will edit uncompressed HD video.

But right now the only way to offload P2 cards in Linux is by hooking up the camera via USB (and therefore keeping you from using the camera while you offload).

What are you using to edit? Cinelerra?

This seemed a little odd to me. This is a quote from Panasonic's download site for the drivers:

"Once remove P2 Card and reinsert P2 Card,it is required to reboot MacBookPro before reinsertion.
Same reboot step is required when remove Duel Adaptor™ from MacBookPro and reinsert it.
Please refer to the following web site of Duel Systems for more information."

So does this mean with the Duel Adapter, that one would have to reboot the machine between insertion of new cards? Meaning after each dump or really right before each into the computer to have to restart? I hope not! That's wasted time! Can anyone confirm this? thnx!

If you have the Duel Adapter, you only have to restart the computer everytime you remove the ADAPTER card from the laptop, not the P2 card from the adapter.

How do you put firmware into the p2 store?
You use the P2 Store Manager software. You also have to flip a little switch on the side of the P2 Store so that it's configured to receive a firmware software transmission.
