New Music Video "We'll Be Alright"

Glad he worked his wormhole travel out. He should be with his girl in a matter of minutes. That ship can handle the pull of a wormhole right?

I checked and calibrated the flux dispersal to match the frequency of the portal. On paper, he should've been fine. Hopefully we'll find out. :D

Ok now for some real critiques. First and foremost the song is really not good. The autotune on the vocals is the first killer, second the production on the track is not very good either and finally the song is way to long. Most hit songs are under 4 minutes, at 4:40 it's way to long.

Now onto the video, the effects were a bit overkill. The best scene I actually liked was the second verse which looked really good. The first scene on the bridge was great but it just dragged way too long. One thing that never works is when people create 3 scenes and use them specifically for each verse.

1st verse = Bridge Scene
2nd = Bedroom/ indoor location
3rd = Super Space Craft scene

If someone does not like your song right away they would never get to see the 2nd scene or the last scene. Instead if I were editing the video I would have established all scenes from the beginning so they could all be used somehow. Or at least two scenes and not just one.

The watermark of your website while not really distracting I also think it takes away from your video.

Overall though the effects look really good, but for this music video it really doesn't work , kind of cheesy IMO. I think you are a better motion graphic designer than you are a Director/Editor. Personally the project looks professional but the song is not very good and the over the top graphics is something that people cannot relate too.

In order for this song to work I would shorten it by a Minute and if you were to do Motion Graphics I would go for a more realistic look and please tell the artist to get rid of the Auto Tune.

Are the director and song artist the same person?
Because it makes no sense to turn to a music video director and critique the production of the song he's directing the video... (???)

I also agree that was a bit cheesy, but hey, not everything is 100%, There's audience for cheesy stuff as well.

Cheesiness matters aside, it was really well done, I was also impressed by production design.
Every shot really looked into place... Looks like some good storyboard planning took place.
I'll check breakdown later, now I need to get some sleep.

Keep it up, I'm seeing lots of good work around here.

No, I'm not the artist. Personally I have no problems with autotune when used as a filtering effect as seen here, not as a bandaid on a bad vocal. The guy can sing, he wanted to try something different. I think it fits the song, kinda helped me when getting the video concept together. The autotune kinda makes it all futuristic to me!

Anyway...I appreciate he kind words. Also, one man's cheese is another man's poetry. (in motion) :D

Cheers!

I don't agree with you This video was pretty damn good. The song has nothing to do with it IMO. He didn't say he produced the record nor wrote it, 4GS:banned:.

I would love to see some of your videos work. The way you ripped on Jester's work you must be pretty damn amazing!

I never understand this kind of comment .. why would he have to be "pretty damn amazing" to have a valid opinion?? i agree with much of what he said, but after all its just my opinion too.. however - its equally valid as anyone elses, regardless of my talent to create something similar.

Does that mean that everyone who thought the Star Wars prequels sucked had no right to say they did , coz they couldn't beat ILM at creating vfx???

overall i thought as a video it was great , song sucked!, too long and too samey and the moment i heard auto-tune , i think " no talent " , had to watch the VFX breakdown on mute - but again just my opinion.

well I personally think this video was on point. the vfx's was sweet, the shots were sweet & I thought the editing was just right. I think we can all point out things from people that are in the business of music videos like spike jonze and who ever else and pick out things we "think" could be better but the fact is, if it works for the DIRECTOR-ARTIST-STATIONS THAT PLAY- AND PEOPLE WHO LIKE IT, then our opinions dont matter. Opinons are like a**holes , everybody has em, and some people wanna be them..lol ( no disrespect to anyone who didn't like this video so dont go crying)

Either way peoples opinions really mean nothing when the A. artist loves the work, B.the director is satisfied with the work & GETS PAID and C:more work is generated for the director based on the work you thought 'could've been done this way', 'or what I would've done'..ehh.

You have done your job my friend & I for one think it was excellent and where I aspire to be ..soon! By the way jester, I'm in philly and go to NY enough that if your doing something like this & need any help I would love to be apart of the process. I love to network & make connections with talented people so HOLLA!

& if you have time to drop me a critique on a video I directed/edited/did everything on I would love to hear your critique since I now respect your work.. even though my opinion doesnt matter..Haha

Video looks professional and motion graphics are nice but to me it seems like more of a tech demo as the artist imo at least in this song is not very talented. The major push of this seems to be graphics and a lot of fluff.

IMHO the Video really made no sense with the song and no matter how "incredible" the graphics look it's not something I personally like.

Outstanding work bro, you are truly a master and student of your craft.

Constructive criticism is one thing but I really don't understand the sparse, negative/misdirected feedback.

LOL! I think you just summed up 75% of every music video ever made! Music videos are visual interpretations of the music. This is simply what I saw when thinking about this video.

Anyway, I really do appreciate all the feedback, both positive and negative. The way I look at it, if the work evokes some sort of response, even negative, then you must be doing something right.

The video is doing well and getting a very nice response overall. Everyone involved is pretty happy we can't wait to do more.
