Just curious - how long did it take you to design this in pre production? Did you storyboard this video like crazy? You mentioned it took 2 days to film - did you run through the entire song with the band for each camera set-up? Have multiple cameras going?

Excuse my ignorance...

Also for the post - if you did have multiple cameras or obviously multiple angles, did you use the multicam feature in fcp? Even if every angle was the band performing the song again & again - did you sync all the versions as one master sequence - then choosing which shots to use?

Lastly did you apply more of a widescreen matte in fcp?

Thanks!!!!

After doing so many music videos, I've found it's kinda pointless to do storyboards for performance based videos. I have a shot list, things I know I want to capture, but no actual storyboards. And certain things always happen on set that you would never think of that you know you want to get on camera as well.

And yeah, I would say that for most angles in the video, we'd have the band go through the entire song. That way you don't limit where certain shots can and can't go when you're editing.

We just had one HVX for the video, and I don't tend to use the multi-cam feature in FCP. I don't know why, I probably should. I guess since I shoot and edit all my stuff I tend to know what I will and won't use as I'm shooting, and then just kinda go right to the stuff that I know will work in post.

And yes, I have started to put all my music videos in a 2:35:1 matte on all my music videos, as I find it to make anything and everything look that much better.

Hope that answers all your questions!
