This was a fun one. It's a bit campy with some dark humor but I was happy to do a new music vid where the band wanted to do the opposite of look as glamorous and flashy as possible. I sitll enjoy doing flashy, but this was a nice change of paste along the lines of something I would have wanted to do for my band when we were still actively touring.

Still loving my FS700 + 7Q combo. There are a handful of shots on the A7s as well. The A7s shots were all filmed internal in the XAVC-S codec.

Thanks guys.

SrtBrad, the shots you mentioned were shot on the FS700. The stumbling walking in the woods was the A7s on a stedicam. The only other A7s shots were the vacuum cleaner shots and the on the couch in the living room shots. Both those shots I was using a small skater dolly and the size of the A7s worked for that. Even though.....the vacuum cleaner shots ended up just being used as a static low ground angle.

Clermond, I just added the url above the video. Thanks for reminding me of that.

Could you post the url as well? Embedded videos are displayed neither on iPads nor on iPhones, thanks
Have this also, but if you hit "quote" the vimeo URL will be shown and you can copy/paste it to get to the video. Obviously not as easy as just clicking a link though. But good at those times when you're really curious about a video...

These are nice skin tones. Would you be able to tell more about the CC process? Are you still using Red Giant or did you start using Resolve? How are you white balancing and where are you placing the IRE for skin tones? Is there much of a difference between exposing for the FS7 and the A7s?

Sorry about all the questions, but it looks good!

Thanks. I am still using a Red Giant Color Suite over Resolve and there are a few reasons why. Now that Premiere has motion tracking masks that you can shape by pin point, Red Giant in combination with other LUTs I have put in my library really has everything I need. The motion tracking masks of any shape, feather, opacity was the biggest element that made me want to transition to resolve to begin with and now I have that directly through Premiere.

The only other thing that I really still wish I had more control of that Resolve does better, is Highlight control if something is really blown out. Other than that though, I much prefer being able to dable with a color grade over the course of a 2-3 week edit each day right there in my NLE. It allows me to bounce to it and keep honing it in over the course of editing day by day letting my fresh eyes keep catching things I don't like. Also, I have to grade in full screen. I used to keep my video window smaller like it is in Resolve and then when I would view the finished product in full screen mode later, I would find things I wasn't happy with that I would have caught if I had just been grading in full screen to begin with like I can do in Premiere.

The LUTs I have been using are mostly from either the IMUPULZ LUTS series offered by Color Grading Central or the free LUT's offered by Alister for the A7s. They work great for FS700. Here is the link for that.

Those Allister LUTS are pretty fantastic actually. There's only 3 but I love how he offers different exposure values for each set. The other thing about the LUTs is that I don't necessarily use them at their full opacity. The trick with the Red Giant color suite is that I use tons of layers of colorista, looks, and sometimes mojo on every cut clip. So it is way more than a single instance of anything. Then I manipulate the opacity levels of all those individually as well.

For this particular video, all the band playing footage I shot was white balanced at 3200K and the whole set was Tungsten lit. Everything on the FS700 was shot in 4k2hd except for the slo mo which was 2K RAW.
