UPDATE: The video is done. See it here.

I DP'd this music video a couple weeks ago. It's a video for a song called "Chea Bah" by Young Dre. The song is featured on the new, soon to be released game "Fight Night - Round 4". The song features Snoop Dogg. In the video is Young Dre, Snoop Dogg, Good Charlotte, Hyper Crush, Sugar Shane Mosley, Bernard Hopkins, Wood Harris, and some more actors, fighters, etc.

Day one was all greenscreen. We used the EX1 with and without a Century fisheye adapter.

Day two was all on location. We used the Redrock M2e with Canon FD glass as well as the naked EX1.

Here are some pics and a couple of links to some BTS stuff. There were quite a few BTS cams floating around. I spotted a DVX100 and at least two HVX200's. The video is being finished and should be posted online in the next couple of days. I will post a link, fo shizzle.

Very nice cheez! That was bomb bro......man u really no who to work that ex......thats one of the best videos ive seen in a long time.

I agree. Great cutting & tempo.

Amazing that $6,000 cameras are being used to shoot a high end project like this.

This industry has been turned upside down.

The only time I noticed some limitations of the camera were the outdoor scenes where highlights were a bit strained in the sky and the gourney in front of the ambulance.

Still, looks great and 'normal folk' would never notice.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks!!! Ya it's becoming more and more common to see these small cams on "big" projects. The artist wanted to shoot on RED but the budget wasn't there. Pretty common lately. Budgets are getting smaller and smaller.

To be honest, we couldn't have gotten this done with a bigger cam. The whole thing was so run and gun, the RED would have killed us. Day one was no biggie as we were on a green stage all day. Day two was nutty. We were all over the place from the hood in south central to Hollywood then scaling buildings to shoot on and from the roof. Handheld all day. Ex1 was perfect.

fo shizzle......u mentioned seeing other cameras floating around...was this all shot on ex-1 or muti cameras...u must of had a good time hanging with snoop...ive personally met ice cube , and the game before. but it was on the retail side of biz.....both really cool people.

There were a lot of BTS and press cams around but none of that footage is in the video. 100% ex1 other than the screen shots from the video game.

Snoop and all the other guys were cool. Easy to work with.

Could I ask about lighting for the outdoor shoots?

Did you add anything? HMI's Reflectors etc...

Sounds like it was a hectic shooting schedule.

Thanks

Thanks.

Was the video shot in 24p with a little overcrank here and there?

I watched it a couple more times and I like it even more.

yup. we shot hq 1080/24p for most of it. we jumped to hq 720/24p and overcranked to 48fps for some of the storyline stuff. we would have done 60fps but we were shooting on MxM....

Awesome Cheez!!!! I'd pat you on the back but you're 3,000 miles away so why don't you do it! Very, very nice.
