New Music Vid...

What was your set up for the time freeze effects?
Same set up for the people and the band? because on the people it looked a lot smoother.
Overall great looking video. Some of the effects were a bit much for me. Loved the wide shots. Great compositions and lighting.

Nice job.

I really liked the colors and the editing. I, too, wasn't overly thrilled with the splotchy effects (I didn't think they added anything to the feel or energy of the video).

Do you mind sharing your settings? I thought the look was very good.

720p at 24 frames. 60 frames at 1/250 for the slow mo, compensating for light loss accordingly. Color corrected the hell out of it in FCP. I can't even tell you how many layers there are in some shots. My computer almost exploded.

Oh and the freeze effects were accomplished by....well just having everyone freeze and then shoot it at 60 frames to smooth any twitches.

The band freeze is pretty shaky because we just got a golf cart with a truckbed and I just hung out the back with my camera 6 inches off the ground and we went about 30mph around them a couple times.

Not perfect, but a cheap solution.

WHen you say exploded with the layers you mean you kept putting different layers of
color corrections on the footage, or are you talking about something else.

That and on some shots there were up to seven copies of the same shot just layered on top of each other to get the desired look. We back lit the performance footage so much, it sometimes required us to do that to bring down the brightness to the necessary level.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

Hey, Jeff. Very very nice music video. I wish we could watch the full resolution video. Yeah, I would also like to know is this HVX only? Not any 35mm adapter?

It would be so nice to see the original footage compared to the color corrected...or some frame caps...

Also, how big is the space where you shooted those whole band footages? And what kind of lighting setup you used? Many questions...

Stock HVX only. Budget wasn't that high so we couldn't afford the pro35. We just shot from further off than usual and zoomed in more.

We shot the performance footage at Austin studios. About 10,000 feet or so space wise.

We used three arri cases. Standard 650w, couple 350's and one or two 1K's.

And yeah, I'll post some pre/post stills either tomorrow or saturday. The band asked for a couple revisions on a couple shots, so I'll do that tomorrow and then post the new version with some pics, etc.

That was really cool dude.

It would be nice if you could go into detail of some shots ( pic of the set, before and after regarding cc with a frame grab, camera settings ).
Infact, it would be cool if anyone does that when they post something, so others can learn from it.

Anyway, it would be cool if you do man ! This clip is really good.

thx !

Just used the Stripes filter in the Distort section of FCP and then took down the opacity to about 25%.
