GH3 New Metabones adapter coming for EOS=>M4/3 that makes the lens faster!

Don't get greedy  They stated somewhere, in the whitepaper I think, that there wasn't enough room between the camera mount and where the lens needed to be to do a 2x.

Screw that I want zeiss Hasselblad CF lenes on a m/43. The rear element should be large enough that we can get to F/.70 maybe... thats what I want to believe anyway.

Honestly have now thought of looking into getting an used AF100 and this "speed booster" as an upgrade from my T2I. Already use all Nikon F mount lenses and just a Tokina 11-16mm that is canon mount but could easily sell that lens and switch to a nikon version. Main reason I didn't want to get a Af100 was because I'd need to re invest in glass but this adapter fixes that.

Why would you have to re-invest in glass when you have a 11-16mm, which is plenty wide for M4/3 and a set of Nikons? This is more than manageable with for an AF100.

You are probably right but I think the main thing that turned me off was needing something like the faster wide angle lenses like the 17.5mm and 25mm that are not cheap. With the speed booster I could get away with getting something like the samyang 24mm cine lens which would then be used for double duty as a 25mm lens and a 17.5mm lens with the adapter.

It probably won't happen, but it would be cool to have a MFT to MFT adapter. Then I could use it with my existing Oct-19 to MFT adapter with Lomo lenses on the BMC.

My thoughts exactly, if physically possible. A passive converter that would accept OCT18 and other larger format lenses that have dedicated m43 adapters attached. I will email them this weekend.

While I think this is physically impossible... theoretically, you could use such a beast to stack speedboosters and yield your 0.5x/+2stops from a full-frame lens. The first reduces it to DX coverage, the second to m43 coverage.

To get even sillier, you could hypothesize stacking even more to use with ETC mode

So it was a budget thing then. Nothing about the camera. ;)

Ya the probably was the thing haha, I mean I didn't like the idea that some lens I would buy might not be usable on other cameras but other than that it seems like an amazing camera. I just finished high school and am trying to get in to doing some freelance jobs and might buy the af100 if I can start to get more clients.

So, let me get this straight. METABONES SPEEDBOSTER - turns a 25mm into a 17.75mm (-0.71x) and 1 F stop more - Panasonic 14mm-140mm turns into a 10mm – 100mm F3-4.8 - Man if it did 1 more F-stop, I wouldn't need another lens?

It accomplishes this by concentrating the lens' coverage circle (making it smaller), and still has to work within the original mount's flange distance... so it will effectively only work on mirrorless cameras (replacing the mount adapter) with lenses designed to cover a larger system (full frame lenses now cover APS/DX and smaller, APS/DX lenses now cover m43 and smaller)

No -- it won't work at all on m43 lenses. It only works by taking a lens designed for a larger format, and concentrating/shrinking that image down to a smaller sensor size. So basically you have to be looking at "full frame" lenses only.

Theoretically possible, but practically impossible... the BMC will only come in EF and M43 mount sizes. The speedbooster as designed cannot adapt a lens back onto its original mount, because the flange distance would change. It can only be used between a lens with a comparatively large flange focal distance and a (mirrorless) body with a comparatively short flange focal distance.

That said, there are plenty of optical adapters to adapt lenses with shorter flange distances to bodies with longer flange distances, ie Canon FD lens to Nikon/EF, etc (usually optically terrible, but they do exist). If such a product were financially feasible, eventually someone could develop such a thing with an integral reducer, or reducers with identical mount, male and female, on both ends (like current teleconverters). That's a pie in another sky, though.

Yeah m43 lenses are generally designed primarily for size and price. Look at the 14-140 f4.5-5.8, for example, and compare it to the amount of light coming through an equivalent full frame lens like a 28-300 f3.5-6.3. If you were able to harness all that light onto a m43 format sensor with the same size image circle as the 14-140 using a 0.5x reducer, it would be a 14-150 f1.75-3.15! It's a design that lets in 6x more light!
