Hi! I’m Jgirl-I’ve used Speed Edit for at least 20 years. I love this program. I know I still have much to learn but for what I need, it’s user friendly and fun to edit on…
I do have a question regarding updating Speed Edit-it’s been a while since I used this program and wanted to update it. The old link took me to the new owner ivrt or something spelled like that😊
Thank you!
Jgirl

Welcome to DVXUser, Jgirl!

Wow… I haven’t heard the word “SpeedEdit” in years. A quick Google search turned up nothing newer than SpeedEdit 2.0 in 2013.

Maybe one of the other community members knows something more about it, but it may be time to consider updating to a new platform altogether. Plenty of good options out there now, both Mac and Windows.

LOL Thanks! No WONDER I’m not able to update😄

Looks like Newtek was acquired by Vizrt back in 2019. Wonder if Kiki Stockhammer continued on with them (the longtime spokesperson for Newtek, legendary for the "Kiki Wipes" on the Toaster platform)

It seems that she disappeared (on-line) in 2000 other than still being part of Warp 11 band. She isn't listed in any connection with Vizrt. I suppose she had enough money to retire to simply play as a musician. Also Speed Edit isn't listed by Visrt so I would also recommend looking at a new system.

There are online videos of her doing industry-related talks as recently as 2022, but I don't think she continued on with Newtek after the sale.

I was quoting that well known irrefutable source: Wikipedia :)
The Warp 11 band site shows her as a current member of the band. So she may have taken a break after NewTek became Vizrt as there is no mention of her that I can find connected to Vizrt. Sometimes there are "gardening clauses" that say you can't work in the same industry for x-months or years after you leave. It stops you going to a direct competitor or setting up on your own. This is not that uncommon for founders of a company when it is bought out. I know a couple who were in SW until the buy out and then went full time into a band. However, it is all supposition re Kiki.
