Announcing Magic Bullet 3

Magic Bullet 3, which will begin shipping this summer, includes three individual products: Magic Bullet Looks™, Magic Bullet Frames™, and Magic Bullet Colorista™. Magic Bullet Suite is a collection of these tools and also includes Instant HD.

Read the press release for full details and get a sneak peek at other new products we'll be showing at NAB -- Trapcode Flux, Instant HD Pro, and Primatte Keyer Pro 4.

• Magic Bullet Looks (formerly known as Magic Bullet Editors) lets you define the style of your video or film with powerful imaging tools in Final Cut Pro, Motion, Premiere Pro, Avid, and After Effects. Magic Bullet Looks is also a stand-alone design application—giving you the finishing power and on-set creation in one package. Take Magic Bullet Looks on set to create looks or presets using an image during production.

• Magic Bullet Frames offers fast and high-quality conversion of 60i materials to 24p or just deinterlacing of video in After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Motion, Avid, Premiere Pro, and Avid.

• Magic Bullet Colorista is the same exciting color correction tool that we launched in 2006. New support will be available for After Effects CS3 Professional, Premiere Pro CS3, and the new Final Cut Studio. Also there will be updates for Mac Intel across the board.

Stop by the Red Giant Booth #SL3827G, SL3827H (Adobe Plugin Pavilion) to watch a demo of these new products, during NAB in Las Vegas from April 16-19, 2007.

And it'll probably render slower.

I don't know about that. MB Editors 2.0 & MB Suite 2.1 were both a huge step up from the original version in term of render speed. I'm assuming Red Giant have optimized the speed even more for this latest version or radically retooled the software to justify an upgrade. It would really be a rip for them to repackage with a few minor upgrades and a new name.

I used to use MB. Now with the HVX, I don't know, I just find it old school. Using Color Finesse or even the the FCP tools, on the rare occasion shake... paired with a basic knowledge of film stocks, shooting processes, and "looks" I find you can create just about any look you need, without MB.

This looks like an interface enhancement and a (much needed) speed boost. I don't care about the former (it's like using "variations" in photoshop... I take curves and levels and hue and sat anyday) and the speed boost, for me, is too little too late, there are better, cheaper ways out there.

Even for converting frame rates, natress has a much more affordable, quicker, and I think better solution in his plugins for FCP.
