VaricamLT: New LT firmware is out.

There are a series of improvements in the new firmware. 2K240p RAW output is enabled, which will soon be supported by the Convergent Design Odyssey7Q+/7Q. We added metadata to the Monitor output as per client request (it's a workflow thing), and anamorphic desqueeze is now also available during playback. There are several other functions as well.

Does "metadata to the monitor output" mean to the on board LCD or via SDI to the VF out?

BTW Mitch, is there a number to calculate the crop factor when using the LT in cropped mode? Is it as simple as x2 for the lens focal length?
Also, what's the exact crop factor for the Varicam S35 sensor compared to "full frame" sensors?

If you're comparing to "full frame" still cameras(i.e: 5D) then a common "crop factor" to use for calculating the equivalent FoV is 1.5x. According to Abel, it's 1.4x for s35mm film in 16x9, 1.5x for Canon C series, Arri Alexa and Sony F65 s35mm sensors and 1.6x for Sony F5/55 s35mm sensors.

I did a comparison between my FS700 and my LT, although I was not thorough in setting up everything exactly the same. From that comparison the field of view seemed very similar between the two cameras.

Good questions! The 2K mode is a simple 1/4 frame (half width & 1/2 height) so the crop factor is 2 (a 50mm in 4K yields the same field of view as a 25mm in 2K). I don't have the dimensions of the full sensor handy to compare to Full frame VistaVision.

This is roughly correct, but he asked for exact and I don't have that at the moment. I'll check & get back to you.
