Hi to everybody!
I'm here to post a little spot that i've made about a mounth ago with the 301. It's a bank commercial.Shot with two 301 with VFR at 50fps,720p,AVCIntra100,graded with Colorista II in After Effects.
Hope you like it!

Bests,
Roberto

Gary, was that shot with a 371 or a 301? The YouTube video says it was a 371, aren't you talking about a 301 though?
Ed

It was actually a 301, sorry for the confusion I just call all my camera's 371's these days as they are all set up the same regardless if they are a 301 or a 371.

Thank you so much paulears and dustylense for the kind words!
Gary i've seen your football footage! It looks GREAT! I really love DVCPRO50.It's the best SD codec that i've ever try!
Mediaset is a great company,i know that a lot of their spot are shoot with the 301...it's strange because in Itlay the 301 is considered a bad camera...but when people looks at its footage most of the time they don't say a word!
I've been really impressed by the 250,but the 301's colors are so much better according to me.
Bests!
Roberto

Yes it's funny that here in the UK the 301 is not considered by many people but when they use it or see the results they are very impressed, I've used mine on everything with no complaints or had anyone question it's 1/3" sensors!

ALL of the footage was shot on the 301? I am guessing you used the max ND filter and opened up your iris to get shallow depth of field?

Sorry for the delay and thank you so much for your kind words bluevoyagetv and Jacquesstar!
First of all Happy New Year!!!
@Jacquesstar
Yes all footage are made with the 301. I usually use ND4 with iris open and a bit of tele to have less depth of field,or i use macro with a little bit of tele standing far from the subject about 1mt/2mt. It works really well!
I think that the shallow depth of field that you can reach with this camera is very pleasant. The 5D looks more cine, but the shallow depth of field is too high for my taste.Sometime is a real problem according to me!

Thank you so much Phil!
For the red tones i've used the Primary Color correction in Colorama, pushing the higlights and midtones to a soft red value.Shadows are almost red. Then i've desaturated the red channel in the Master HSL for Primary. Than i've adjust RGB curves in the Master Color correction with a standard S-Curve,just to push the contrast a bit and then i've made a square vignette for almost every clip. After all i've put a Tint effect to control the saturation of the entire footage and a bit of white diffusion simply duplicating the first clip, set the blending mode to ADD with a fast blur of 20 pixels. The opacity of the second layer was set to about 10% or 20%.

Holy crap...clearly I have a bit to learn about CC. Thanks

Doesn't sound too complicated compared to what I often do with photographs. Using PS, my favorite diffusion method is to use a box blur on an duplicated luminance layer and setting blend mode to soft light or overlay at 10~20%, you can also colorize this layer for a warm/cool effect.

Hmm... If only Adobe made a color corrector for video (maybe a plugin) that was basically just their adjustment layers from Photoshop, with all the blend modes and at least some basic masking options including gradients, it would pretty much blow everything else out of the water. I just can't quite get used to these color wheels, I could achieve the same effects using only curves and HSL in just seconds.

Hi Kolor!!!! Sorry for the delay,i've read only now your post! Yes,absolutely not complicated and the process is the same of a Photoshop color grading. It's almost the same process and the same effects. But i've find that Colorista II has all the tools in one single effect and the color selection for some parts of the image with a luma matte (that you can do in the plug-in itself) is really precise. I like Color finesse too,but Colorista is smarter according to me!
