New Logo! Watch and give Input!

Might be cool to freeze the train when it get's 3/4 across the frame and using vector art in photoshop turn it into a 2-d graphic like Bruckheimer films does with the tree. I don't like the solar spots or even the blue feathered stuff. I don't like the music. I don't like the added noise to make it look like it's old film. I don't like the quote. I don't like the style of text. I don't like the camera in the title. I don't like the shadow on the text. I do like the film advance holes on the top and bottom of the frame. Effect crazy makes it cluttered. I do like the camera movement and content. I'd be willing to show you what I would do if you want to make the file downloadable, or just give me a frame grab with the train 3/4 across the frame.

Hey there,

Well, here it is, my newest Company Logo. Please feel free to constructively Rip it apart, give praise, advise and or you own ideas.

Thanks!!

I normally resist the urge to critique too hard unless it is asked for so I guess you will be the recipient of my pent up critiques
:Drogar-Evil(DBG):

Please note this is my opinion and I don't have a company, nor a company logo, nor a logo I created for fun. So this is just as a viewer.
It is okay. But there is too much going on and it is too long. I would cut it from the twenty second to about 8 - 10 max.

To do this, I would make the train move across faster. Also, why is there a train? Without knowing what your company does BergVision studions and a picture of a train don't really match. If your company name was Railway Pictures or something I think it would match.

If you do keep the train, I think it looks too much like a video. Ususally logos are short animations or just static images. I would make it really unrecognizable as a real train. (I have no idea how to do this) I would also have it move across the screen way faster. This will help cut down the time of the logo.

I like the lettering and the background of the BergVision Studios. I think that looks sweet. Maybe you could just use that? I think that would look very nice.

Another critique (I know...this is like the millionth!), is that the light that shines in the corner should fade up and then the spots should appear. As it is now it is very harsh. They all appear at the same time. I would also not use the crane with the camera. It seems to be out of place. It isn't filming anything and as before it is just a real image instead of a graphic or an animation.

Hope this wasn't taken badly. I am a fan of having my work ripped apart when I show it because in the end it only makes your work that much better. I don't want somone to say they liked my work and nothing else if they thought that it could be made better. And if they think it was bad, I would expect a list of things that didn't work and potentialy how it could be fixed. Hope I was helpful. Just trying to make your logo better.

Thanks!

Thanks!

Hey guys! Thanks for all the input and advice! I do really apriciate it.

You both are correct though. The train doesn't really make any sence. And there is too much going on. I'm trying to feel out a "LOOK" but I'm not sure what it is yet.
Sometimes I have to work and mawk stuff up to see what it looks like before I go back and start from scratch. Darn creative Minds.....

I would be interested in seeing your ideas!

I'm working up some of the changes now.

To come up with ideas we need some info. What kind of films do you produce? What do you want the logo to convey? Do you want it to be fun, serious, professional looking for clients?

Let us know

How about this? :)

Funny HA HA....

Funny HA HA....

OH man! That logo is funny! HA HA.
....After having said that, I do hope it was meant to be a joke.

I produce many different types of Videos and Digital Films.

I do pretty much anything but weddings and porn. (Hey! A Wedding Porn video! Nah. )) I do Documentaries, Instructional, Informative, Training, Live events, Provocative Digital Films on many subjects. Extreme Sports etc.

The name BergVision Studios is derived from my last name of course. And Vision being the foundation I lay for reality in my productions.

I want CLEAN, Sharp, Professional IMAGE. Something to reflect a Movie or Film feel. I had done some PhotoShop logos. But I thought maybe I needed something that MOVED and was more directed twords FIlm and Video.
But I guess a Tree getting hit by lighting isn't much either.

Should I stay with a Static Logo? Or Animated? I can't deside.

Since you asked... it's a little cheesy for me. The train doesn't make sense, the camera is a little much, and the lens flare at the end is too forced and comes on too sudden. But at least your trying. Let us know when you make some refinements.

Good luck.

The quote seems really pretentious to me. Who needs a quote anyway? But then again I don't really have a logo either and I've been hired to shoot a porn feature so I can't really speak on the matter. The old film look is way overused and it seemed really...default plug-inish.

I like the concept of it, but that looks more like a conceptual design for a logo to be built around than a finished one. I like the idea of stopping it and changing it to vector art. Or in some way, increasing the sound of the train itself and rely a little less on music.

For me, simpler has always been better. My intro is a very basic one:

http://www.paramm.com/paradigm.wmv

But, I use it in different ways. Depending on the production, the intro get's changed. Say, if I was doing a Nature shoot, as the intro progressed, I would key out the black to a nice outside shot fading up behind. Or, if it was for something funny, a little character would peek out from behind it and squish it, take a bite out of it, transitioning into the DVD menu.

I made it with a little emphasis on sound, but also in a way that it can be easily put into lost of environments. Blending modes, keys, Knoll Unmult, lots of ways of incorporating it.

In the animated logo I agree with everything about the train. In the still logos I like the first one better. When I looked at the second one I just kept staring at the eye and didn't pay attention to the company name at all.

Your Logo Rapier_100a

Your Logo Rapier_100a

Hey Rapier_100a. I really like your ideas! What program did you use for your Logo?

I agree with you on changing it a bit for different productions. I do films, as well as Live SHows. and Training. So I would like to be able to adapt it as well.

Any information would be great!!!

Thanks!

Those are simple 2D shapes altered to look like they move from 3D space. And a Shine knockoff, and a small amount of real volumetric lighting.
