New Letus35 Mini Released!!!

Michael, that is exactly how I feel about the pricing. Even if the Extreme is set at $1500, that is still not a big enough gap for me to buy the mini over the extreme. I mean people with an HV20 (like in my case now) will eventually upgrade their cameras. When I purchased the Extreme, it wasn't because I wanted it to work for my HV20 but I knew I will be buying a higher end camera soon. If the mini came out when I made my purchase, I still would have went for the Extreme even if it was set at $1500.

The Le brothers will see this soon enough.

This too is just my opinion.

Letus35 Mini is just a fun, cute, little project we want to have fun with. You could be right though. But he cuteness to me, I think, irresistible :-). You have to hold it in your hand to see how cute it is :-)

LOL Hien, you guys must be raking it in to be able to make something just for fun. Well, can you hurry up and make us a cute Letus XRails!! haha.

I want one for my HV20. I have a Redrock M2, which I love. But there's something about the portability and super-compact form of the Letus Mini that I really want. Hm...another $1000 I'm probably going to spend.

See what I meant strancali? :-)

Letus35 Extreme, $1200 (for now)
RED camera, $30K before you can even use it
Letus35 Mini's cuteness, priceless :-)

Versatility

Versatility

While some may look for versatility in upgradability... I'm thinking this unit has it own versatility in another way. Think motility. An HV20 + Letus Mini would take you places where the chunky HVX (or any prosumer camera) + Letus EX (or any other 35mm adaptor for that matter) combos cannot.

Think about it: HV20 + Le Mini combo weights less than the extreme itself.

I would think it's a perfect set up for that gun-n-run situation many talked about for weddings, etc.

Beside, it looks so darn cute.:love4:

my worry with it and something like an HV20 is focus. Until my ex1 I have always had to have an external monitor to maintain focus. If I didnt I was always soft. The HV20 might be ok as the focus can be set once whilst a monitor is set up and to change manual focus is actually quite fiddly and harder to knock once it is set, but the viewfinder and lcd arent great so it's still going to be hit and miss if you get focus.

Hehe, I still stand behind my opinion based on a business stand point.

You really want to know what's priceless? A new RED alternative called Letus X4K ! I know you guys have the brains to do it. So hurry and announce it soon will ya. I want to place my deposit in early and get a low serial number.

Hien, I was very excited with the news about the mini. Honestly, I impatiently went to the price since I was expecting a nice MINI-price; a price so cute that it would be priceless. But ...

I've already bought 2 EX1 and I'm considering buying the mini since it would allow me greater safety and a lot less $$$ (with a HV20) to risk on my over 25-foot jib/crane. But $1,100 is not priceless, it's priceyyyyyy.

$800-900 was my expectation. $1,000 would have been my surprise. Now I'm still recouperating from the $1,100 I saw. YOU HAVE HELPED US IN THE PAST, NOW IT'S THE TIME TO HELP OUR POCKETS!

Is the relationship between the letus extreme and mini similar to that between Cinevates diffusion screens for small and large cameras? I've read that while you can use Cinevate's larger diffusion screen on tiny cams, the best results (less vignetting, edge-to-edge sharpness) come from pairing the small diffusion screen with small cameras.

Does the same apply to the letus-mini? Since it's specially engineered for cameras with smaller lenses does it get better results than if you were to use the extreme on the mini?

I too think it's priced a little high. Production people buy the HV20 because they can't yet afford it's bigger brother. If you're on a tight budget and can't afford the Extreme, it seems most logical to go with the Economy over the Mini. It's priced lower and is also still applicable to bigger cameras when your budget finally permits it. Since it's basically a shrunken Extreme specifically for smaller, cheaper cameras, I think it should be priced comparably to Economy. Or how about a Mini Economy? Just a thought...

That being said, I still really want one.

the price should not change, because the parts are basically identical, just smaller.

but you make a valid point of offering a mini economy.

What would be a good Rail and FF system (don't have to be same brand) to use with the new mini? I assume the Letus Rails coming out would work well with it?

I have a HV20 and I am struggling to decide between the mini and Brevis. I am leaning towards the mini because I do some documentary work and the agility would be great.

Knowing I would need another if I get a bigger camera hurts a little, but if I can afford a camera then, I could probably swing the extra for a new adapter at that point :P

If you can wait a short time, you should wait to see the Flip Breivs to be released very soon. Then make your decision on the best adapter for you. The first footage from the Brevis flip looks very promising and that was not the shipping version either.

I hear you, I must say cheers to both of these companies for making decisions like this so difficult. I honestly feel confident that I'll be happy with either I choose.

I do a lot of hand held work even in my narrative stuff, I just have to decide which in the end will make my life easier (even though I know it won't be easy with focus etc.)
