New lens hood for HMC150!

Actually..it's an old hood. The DVX hood fits perfectly on the HMC150 if you guys haven't already tried it out. It's a toss up for me as far as which one I'd actually use though but I'm happy with the stock hood. I test fitted a friends DVX hood and it slid right on.

For steadicam purposes, I may just use the DVX hood since it's not so much of a "sail" as the HMC150's stock hood is.

I've looked up "AGDVX100" on the panasonic part site.

I came up with a "Lens Hood" part number VGQ6882 for $35.54
I came up with a "Lens Cap" part number VGQ6883 for $21.19

I just called Panasonic Parts Center. They said if it's not an "internal" part then it's a accessory... So I'm on hold with them right now.

Well after talking to about 4 people I'm supposed to get a call back within 24 hours with a part number for the HMC-150's lens hood cap.

Doh, sorry, I got you and the OP mixed up (he had posted a WTB on the DVX hood). At any rate...

I actually was on the phone with Panasonic parts guys yesterday and today because I needed a few miscellaneous parts and accessories and couldn't make any sense of most of the parts listings for the DVX100/A/B on their site. Of course, there were a bunch of part numbers and descriptions they couldn't make any sense of either, so I don't feel too bad.

I put together a little "cheat sheet" so I know which parts to look for...all user-serviceable type stuff, just things that can get broken, go missing, etc.

I plan to keep my DVX for a good while longer, so I needed to know this stuff. Good to know the hood fits the HMC though! I guess that alleviates the horrible/ugly lens cap issue then, right?
 
So the DVX100 doesn't have a lens cap?

Being new to Panasonic, it seems like the design of the DVX lens hood, with the openings in the back, would let in more stray dust to dirty up the lens.

Being that it's not as wide as the 150's, do you see vignetting with the DVX hood?
 
i notice vignetting with the hmc150 hood on, when i am fully zoomed out and have OIS on, i can see it wobble a bit...no biggie. its kind of artistic!!!
 
DVX has a lens cap, it just goes on the lens (instead of the hood). :)

Never totally understood the design of the DVX hood, with the back openings, but I can tell you I never have had to deal with any dust whenever I've used one. Stays pretty clean.

It is definitely the most recognizable lens hood out there...you can recognize it as a simple silhouette, even!

Found a used hood and bought that. Gotta return my friends hood soon ;).

I'll get the pics up in a few hours when I get home from work.

I prefer the DVX hood to the tupper ware hood of the HMC150 because it will let air flow thru, a bit more suitable for steadicam use.
