New Lav recommendations please.

Hello, my audio kit was stolen this week in Vegas from the parking garage and it had my lav's in it. I have only used Sennheiser ew 112-p G3 with the me-2 mic. I have been overall pretty happy with them but I was never wowed with the quality of the audio. I did try the countryman mic but for me it was hard to control the "rustle" from clothing, they seemed too sensitive to cable noise. The me-2 was "easy" to use as in not too hard to get clean audio. So I have a clean slate now and I have to buy 4 new lav's in the range of the sennheisers. I can't swing the lectrosonics, so if anyone has any recommendations. My thought is to do the ew's again and upgrade to the mke2 mics but I just don't know. I do need 4 of them and I am hoping I can do under 4K for the lot. My other thought would be the sony receiver that I think will take two signals, so I could do just two receivers and 4 transmitters which would be nice, but I don't have any experience with the sony sound quality.[/COLOR]
Thanks for the help.

Sanken COS 11D is probably my favorite mic that I use with my G3's, and there are a bunch of mounting accessories you can get with it. I like the Countryman b6 too because it's easy to hide, but seems like you haven't had good luck with them. I have the Oscar Sound Tech 802s as well, and while not nearly as sensitive as the Cos-11d or countryman, they sound pretty good and are cheap. I have some Rode Lavs as well, and I can't honestly recommend them as full time mics because the connectors suck so bad and are always having issues. I do have a Rode PinMic, though, that get's occasional work and has open some doors from a hide in plain site point of view.

I am having trouble controlling the rustle with my Oscar Tech 802 as well, but I haven't practiced enough with that mic and since I don't have Tr50 experience, that flat mic design is generally very new to me. So, I definitely blame myself more than the mic at this point. Having said that, I bough a Cos-11d to replace it for under-the -clothes setups that need a high frequency boost, and I don't have hardly any issues with rustle. It's much easier for me to work with the Sanken. It's also much more expensive, but it was worth it for me.

It sounds like you're not just looking specifically for lav mics but also new wireless as well? Or was it only the mics themselves which got stolen? (I doubt it, as if so it would be strange for you to mention Lectrosonics)

If you're looking at the sub $1K price range then I'd highly recommend the Sony UWP-D11, same price point as the G3/G4 but better in lots of little (and not so little) ways.

Other options:

You can find older Lectrosonics (such as their 200 series) quite cheaply, would be no problem getting a set for sub $1K.

MiPro ACT-80 squeezes in just under the $1K price point, I've never used it myself, but it looks quite appealing? https://wavreport.com/2018/04/03/review-mipro-act-80-eng-kit/ Usually there is a big gulf in appealing wireless options between G3/UWP-D11 priced options and Lectrosonics/Zaxcom/Wisycom/AudioLtd gear, but the MiPro might be an exception.

Wait for Deity to release their promised new wireless.

IronFilm's got some good options, however, your ideas in your original post are good as well. I have Lectrosonics SMQVs and 411a receivers with Sankens and Trams and Sennheiser G series stuff as well. However, given your budget, the idea of getting G3's or G whatever with the MKE2 lavs is a sound idea & are in a completely different and better league than those original lavs that came with hte older G series units. These MKE lavs are very good and matched & wired to the G series units. You may wish to look at the new G5 units with the MKE2 lavs, they may have a good bundled price. You can also pick up older Sennheiser G series cheap. Used Lectrosonics are expensive in relative terms and you need to get up and running ASAP. I don't know the Sony units so I cannot comment on those. Just be practical and do what is necessary within your budget.

And stay away from Block 26 units, if you do not know that already. That portion of the wireless spectrum has been sold off and will not be available to use in a short space of time. The market is flooded with Block 26 wireless now as a result.

Thanks for the advice, does anyone have any experience between the sennheiser me2-II and the mke2, and the sony mic compared to the mke2 for instance. At this point I am leaning to the sony system but just because I like the build and features of that wireless system but I just don't have any experience with that mic compared to the sennheiser.
If the mke2 had better sound than the original G3 me2 mic by a lot and it would be close to the sound of the lectrosonic then I would just do the G5-mke2 system. I thought the countryman was fine but not a huge difference to the me2 mic I had. But I do use them under clothing most of the time, (and yes with a loop) or at least hidden, lots of mole skin, sticky stuff etc..... I use the wireless system the least amount of time, but I do have to have them.
Thanks again.
