New IDX System

Just thought you guys might like to know how well the new IDX works.
We just shot World Cup Snowboard with a lot of the Olympic riders .
All day on the mountain, cold and sunny, one battery shot 2 hours of footage and then another hour of bobsled, downhill, ski jumping....camera probably on for 4 hours continuous.
At the end of the day it still lit the second LED and showed 14.6V in the VF.
And the footage was pretty nice....tough under full sun on snow all day, but man some of the aerial shots and colors are killer.

Great to hear I am in the process of getting one my self, did you have to wait for your cert to come after your puchase and if so how long?

Our supplier had to wait a week or so after our purchase to get the coupons. As bad luck had it, my coupon was the only one with an error in the serial#. But JVC has been just great to work with so far. In this case they overnighted the coupon directly to us and expedited the delivery when we overnighted it back.

I just got my kit yesterday so I let it charge last night. I have been shooting all morning in this underground parking lot. I have had the cam running for about 4 hours and maybe 4 and a half when the second light just went out. This kit work very well. :-)

Dude. You're making me so jealous right now. :)

Two more days until it's a full month since I sent off the cert. At least I'll only have another month to wait at the most.

I have to say, and I know I may be accused of whining, but this is rather odd that I've waited this long and others haven't. If I ever get this kit and I end up with SSE after all this, I'm really not going to be happy with JVC.

At least you got your certificate.

I've owned my camera for a month and have yet to EVEN receive the certificate.

This isn't rocket science here. Please someone tell me why this is so hard to get hold of these.

I bought my camera from National Video Tape, Tempe AZ.
I call them every week.

I had the crappy photocopied cert that was in the box from B&H. It looked no different from the one you can download from their site - printed on yellow paper. Nothing was filled in on it either - not the dealer, not the serial #, nothing. Battery arrived about 2 weeks after I sent it off.

You might try contacting someone at JVC. There are a couple of guys who float around here and at DVinfo.

Go to JVC global and pull up the GY-HD 100u, then click the icon on the right that says dealer nearest you put in the zip code of the dealer you bought your camera from if your dealer is part of the IDX promo they will have a gold emblem next to their name if they do not, then that may be why you did not get your cert. I have notice that some dealers that are not part of the promo do not mention this at time of purchase, so I would double check just to be safe. Contacting JVC is also a good idea!

I got mine from B&H and printed the one off the website. I plan to call JVC today and see what's going on. I'm all for being patient, but I need to see where I stand now.

I tried emailing Carl Hicks this morning. No response yet.

I received an email from Carl today. I'm still trying to figure out the tone of, but he's looking into this for me.

Sorry if this post is redundant to some. I've been quiet since the 3rd on this and still have no update on my kit.

Well I have an update on my IDX.

I have to say that the entire certificate thing bothered me, continues to bother me and not to mention baffles me. Why we have to wait weeks/months to get a cert from some dealers while others can offer them in the box or via download needs to be addressed for future promos.

Now, that being said. I FedEx'd the Cert and required info Next Day day (well it was a Friday so it arrived at JVC last Monday the 6th). Here it is 5 business days later and I'm looking at my new IDX system. :)

Granted I live in the same state (almost the same county) as JVC so shipping was probably faster than some and I had my local rep put some heat on this for me. She is sooooo great! It seems that they are getting these things out pretty quickly now.

Just remember to FedEx your stuff - do no count on snail mail.

Right on. Congratulations! :)

I actually had JVC confirm receiving my cert and information on the 3rd and as of yet still don't have my kit. That's 8 business days. Some people have sent their cert in AND received their kit in that amount of time. In the process of trying to find out what's going from them, I'm belittled and made to feel unimportant of receiving it. I don't get it. JVC has been no help in this at all. It goes to show, if it's FREE, they'll make you pay somehow.

I'm way unhappy with this. Now I may have to send the camera in for the firmware upgrade if I ever want to use the HD firestore. That scares me. I may never get the camera back if this is any indication.

Sorry if I'm whining. I think, at this point, I have a right to. :)

I have not looked there,
But they had better be.

I bought my camera at an open house that had JVC reps and was told about the IDX battery deal. They mentioned it may take a couple weeks. Well, it's been over a month and no certificate. I bought the camera that day.

Carcaridon- The offer still stands. If time gets close and you need an IDX kit, I'll have it in FedEx tomorrow to you and when your's gets to you, you can send that one to me. We're in Scottsdale on a shoot but I can have the office handle it first thing in the AM. Let me know.

Thanks again, Jonathan. I need to check with JVC and find out what's going on. At this point, I'm just a little concerened as to what's going on. UPS attempted to deliver something to my house today, but didn't leave it. This might be it. I have them redirecting it to my work, but that won't happen till Thursday. Darn in person signatures. :)

Well.
After a month of me complaining, whining, and well, more words than that, I finally received my battery kit from JVC.

Special thanks to everyone that's put up with me on this. It really was frustrating. Now I can get out there and do some shooting.

I have 3 things in the works. One early April, one in May, and one in June. All with this camera. :)
