The site claims (claimed?) he'll also have a rod support system and follow focus, just so you can get a complete package...that's what I'm interested in.

sometimes it's nice to adjust the FF. Once during a Varicam shoot we needed a *slow* zoom in, way slower than the zoom controler could do. So I moved the FF back to the zoom ring and was able to do a perfect almost imperceptable slow zoom in.
