New Hyson Mattebox

My new Hyson Mattebox arrived at last. Hooray! It fits my M2 setup perfectly and works with all of my lenses.

Its hard to believe its one of the least expensive matte boxes out there.
 
what the heck do you have wired together there?

whats running in the laptop?
 
Nce set up Craig! I own a Hyson Matte box and agreee it is awesome value and quality. Have a look at the thing s to come from this guyand they look fantastic! What is your arm and dolly setup?
 
i still really dont get what he point of those waves and lines in the picture in DV rack are for. vectorscope or something, why does one need to watch that in particular?

It's DV Rack. I capture straight from the camera to the laptop. No wear on the heads, as no tape required.

With DV rack you do indeed have the advantage of a waveform monitor and a vectorscope, plus a bunch of camera calibration tools. (A waveform monitor is to video what a lightmeter is to film. So you use them mostly when doing a setup.)

The dollie is an indiedollie in one of its 8 gazillion configurations. I'm using a set of sachtler sticks supporting a camcrane 200 in short mode with a sachtler fluid head. I can swap out different sachtler heads as well as the glidecam vista head for remote controlled pan and tilt when crane has all extensions attached and is fully extended.
 
I don't have the numbers in front of me as I am at work at the moment, but the basic dolly kit and the stock crane together should be about $2K total.
 
I've been trading emails with Hyson... interested in his new product line. BTW...What are the specs on your laptop?
 
he told me last week he was waiting for his production people to finish stuff and it would be between four to six weeks. Lots of people are waiting for him to open the doors, his od system looks very cool and there is a hand grip system to go with it as wella s follow focus.. all of which I will buy for sure.

So the mattebox fits the lenses on your M2 as well as straight onto your DVX?
