I have to shoot with a HVX in 2 days, and have 2 years of shooting with the DVX, I have also watched HVX Bootcamp several times. The only thing I'm concerned about is dumping from the P2 cards on to my Mac powerbook. Is this a difficult process or is it simply plugging in the fire wire and placing the files in a folder

yep. its just that easy. make your life easy and before the shoot make and name several empty folders on the desktop to drag to.

BUT, youre going to have to track down the panasonic p2 software drivers or your powerbook wont see the camera OR a p2 card in the pcmcia slot...

Install the drivers first. If you're using a PowerBook (with the PCMCIA slot) then you don't even need to use the firewire, just plug the card right in your PCMCIA slot and copy the files over to your hard disk (internal or external hard disk). Make a new folder for each card copy (so, like, "Reel 1" and "Reel 2") and copy EVERYTHING off the cards.

And, WRITE-PROTECT YOUR CARDS the second they come out of the camera. Don't put a non-protected card in a Mac!
