New HVX User, several questions...

I've been reading the Barry Green book. It's a great book, though at my level some of the information is going over my head. I'm having to do lots of research. It's a blast, and I can already get great images out of the HVX with what I know...But I have a few more questions. I'm hoping you guys can answer! I'm sure these are answered on the forum somewhere so if you post a link and which question, that'd be great. So, here I go.

1. I've been shooting 720p cause I've been mildly confused about the 1080i/p option. I own the HVX200 (not A) so my understanding is that it doesn't /really/ shoot 1080p. However, I can shoot 1080i/24p? Isn't that the same way of faking it as the HVX200A? And if not...The book mentions you can shoot in 1080i/24p and apply the 2:3 pulldown in post. Does that still apply to my camera (HVX200 not A)? I know where the option is when logging and transferring as I've dealt with it before in post, but since I've never actually SHOT and then edited it's sort of weird.

2. The audio options...I want to do a setup for three different situations.
A. A shotgun mic.
B. A wireless lav mic.
C. Using both.

From what I understand if I put the shotgun mic in an XLR port, turn on phantom power, and set it to MIC as opposed to line I'm basically set. But I have a friend who for some reason always runs his audio through Input 2 instead of 1. What's the advantage of this? Why is he doing this? I may need to do audio tests for myself, but doing tons of work when someone probably already knows seems easier. :)

So yeah...Basically a step by step of setting up those three situations would be great. Assume I'm a kindergartner and stupid. Just don't call me stupid. Heh. :) I'll keep reading the book and see what else I can pick up and I hope to hear back from you guys soon. Peace!

1) It really does shoot 1080P at 24 and 30 fps. 1080i/24p isn't faking it at all. It records 24 progressive frames and encodes it into a 1080 60i stream. Use the pulldown to get the 24p back. Its identical for the 200 and 200a.

2)
A) Plug shotgun mic into Input 2, turn on phantom power for input 2, set channel 1 to input 2, set channel 2 to input 2. Now you have the shotgun going to both channels. The beauty of this is that you can set channel 1 to a normal speaking level and you can set channel 2 a bit lower to cover any instances of yelling or other loud noises you might not have planned on. Make sure you are using a mic that requires phantom power of course - some have batteries as their power source or have it as an option. If using batteries turn the phantom power off.

B) Do the same thing but no phantom power. Wireless will have its own power supply, so no phantom power.

C) Plug wireless into input 1 and shotgun into input 2. Set channel 1 to input 1, channel 2 to input 2 and set the levels appropriately. Phantom power should be turned on for input 2 (Shotgun) and off for wireless (Input 1). Inputs 1 and 2 could of course be reversed just make sure phantom is off for the wireless and on for the shotgun.

Hope that makes sense and helps.

Wow, that was fast. Haha. Thanks a lot! Just one last question. I apply the 2:3 pulldown in post, right? Just to clarify.

Okay wait wait wait. So I turned on my camera to check out the settings and try to figure out what's going on.

There's a 1080i/24PA and a 1080i/24P option. The HVX book doesn't really distinguish between them. What's the difference? Which should I use and why? That's the workflow after shooting? (During the log and transfer process and so on.)
