New HPX300Ps, need clarity on some functions.

Hi,
We've just received 2 new cams to work with. I am new to cameras of this caliber as our former ones are Sony PD170's. Video is new to us and me. I have a professional audio background and have kind of "fallen" into the job of videographer. So, I apologize for what may be the first of many newbie questions.

The first questions I have regards the Fujinon lens and zooming. I have experienced the Auto Cruising function and Quick Zoom using the Seesaw control, as well as manual zoom by switching from servo to manual. All good there. I have been through the manual trying to find how to turn off both of those functions so I may zoom and hold. I have also visited the menus, and had no luck there. Maybe I am looking for something obvious and I am just missing it. Can someone please point out what I am missing?

On another note, we also have a set of Manfrotto 524CFI remotes. After connecting them to the lens, the LED will not light, the zoom control does not function but the RET and Record Start/Stop function as they should. Why is that?

If someone could provide some insight on these issues, i would greatly appreciate it. These cameras are meant to be used in a studio environment, shooting 2 or 3 person interviews. We chose them for their broadcast quality even though a majority of our programming ends up on the web.

If more info is needed from me, please ask. :dankk2:
