New HD Panasonic Camera at CES

My guess would be these are squarely aimed at the consumer "daddy-cam",because at the moment Sony is really the only HD "daddy-cam" availabable at the moment, so it only makes sense that other manufactures are looking at bringing out consumer level HD.

Hmmm.

If they're consumer, they're likely HDV.
From the size and form factor, I bet not. I bet they record straight to SD cards. Might be MPEG-2, might be MPEG-4, but probably not HDV as that requires a tape drive.

Why should it have a tape drive? .. in fact, why should it be like any other HDV ... non of the others are.

haha. these look like hairdryer, and not a camera...
so I agree with the "daddy-cam"

No one would accept a camera that could only record a couple of mintues to some memory card...

Keep in mind "HD" does not mean automatically super quality. Barry would be better at pointing out the big brain specs but to put it simple the video would be smashed down with a ton of compression. It's a consumer camera...

OH I'm so sorry guys, I really should have put a smily on my last post..

It was a joke on HVX ... I though it was blatent enough, my bad. :(

- Mikko ...hates all flavors of MPEG for shooting, it's a delivery format, darnit!

the only advantage of the memory card is that the capture is faster. It is not in "real-time", because easly you can copy the data.
