GH2 New GH2 - but what about banding and gamma shift?

So HBR arrives, and we've got 25psf, so I've just sprung for a new Gh2 body. My excitement is somewhat moderated by the recent increase in posts regarding banding at hi-iso/lo-light and lcd gamma shift when going into record. My questions are - 1. how widespread is the banding issue? 2. How much improvement is there with the firmware upgrade to the gamma shift? And 3 - What's the most accurate - lcd in liveview, or lcd when in record? I've been researching, but there seems to be conflicting info on the boards - thanks in advance.

I haven't really seen any banding since I patched my GH2 with SeaQuake.

175mb/s all INTRA... best 4:2:0 codec ever to exist.

There's not much that can done about the gamma shift when hitting record. I just mess around with the white balance, and settings, till I get something I like, I hit record each change till I get it dialed in the way I want it, it is a rediculous flaw with this camera. I'm a bit suprised they even released it with such a huge issue. The whole point of live view is to be able to set up your image. But it's a waste of time unless your hitting the record to see what is actually changing when you change parameters.

the banding still exists, no matter which patch. True, it seems to be much less noticable, but it's still there:/

I wonder why I can hardly see any gamma shift on my GH2, do you guys have constant preview on?

doesnt matter what is on and what is off. ist still there and it makes me/you crazy. its impossible to set flat image settings like with canons. this color shifting is why i regret i bought gh2...

Then sell it buy a canon and be happy.

Every single post of yours has been complaining about the GH2. No one is forcing you to use it. geez. For some like myself the slight gamma shift isn't a big deal or hasn't become an issue yet. its far from 'unacceptable' or would lead me to regret my purchase.

I really think a lot of people are expecting way too much out of a $600 camera. The fact that you can get even half the performance out of it for the money is amazing. The GH2 holds its own in video and in some cases better than much more expensive DSLRs/pro camcorders.

when using the EVF do you get a gamma shift?
if not, start to use it.
it's better smarter and more precise than shooting with the lcd.
