GH2 New GH2 AVCHD video and Final Cut Pro: getting the files onto my Mac and FCP

I didn't think getting video into Final Cut Pro would be a question I would be asking, but I am confused about what to do, and not sure what to search here for...

I just shot my first test video on the GH2 I got yesterday, and I don't know what files to pull into final cut pro, and I don't see the camera in the log and file area. I have researched and discovered that I will need to copy files manually, and I am looking for help pointing me in the right direction.

I understand this has been discussed here before (?) with the GH1, but not sure what to search for to find it. I have an adapter I purchased to put the memory card into, but when I open it up in Finder I don't know what to copy.

The regular .JPG files are there for the stills, but all the rest is a mystery.

Any help appreciated greatly!

Well, I didn't see the difference in 'Log and Capture' and 'Log and Transfer' Shoot!

Use Log and Transfer in FCP, not log and Capture. I put my SDHD card in the USB adapter, plugged that into the USB port, clicked on File>Log and Transfer and bam! There were the files instantly. It found the files and loaded them there automatically. So, there's the answer. I hope that helps others. I am using FCP 7...

An alternative tip I found somewhere on youtube - apologies to whoever originated it for lack of credit - is to use Disk Utility to make a new disk image of the PRIVATE folder on the disk. You can then archive that for future use on your hard drive(s). Although the actual video files are in the STREAM folder I have heard that some applications (including FCP) also need all the other information stored in the various folders so just copying the video files is not advisable.

Once you have the disk/folder recognised by the OS then you can import easily through Log and Transfer.
