Just got my GH-1 today, I took it to the park right away without reading the Manual. I already own FZ-10 and FZ-18 cameras so I figure out it will be easy. I found out it's not.

I''m a Wedding Videographer who started from VHS days, to HI-8, To DV (GL-1 and XL-1) and started editing from plain tape to tape, to MX-30 Mixer, to Premiere 6.0, to Canopus and to Vegas 3.0-4.0. The last time I edit with Vegas was about 3 yrs ago. I havent done any wedding for years so I order also the Vegas 9.0 upgrade for the GH-1 HD. Watching the amazing HD Videos of GH-1 in Vimeo gives me the Itch to do this again.

I also ordered the Canon FD-M3/4 converter. I already bought 2 FD lens in anticipation for the GH-1. I got the 24mm 2.8 and the FL 50mm 1.4.

I used edit with Vegas in a AMD based PC I built 9 yrs ago, The virus killed it. I can reformat but just lazy to do it all again. So I bought a used XP machine which fair worst, Just bought a Sony laptop(VGN-NS325J) last year but Vista's pain in the ass to work with, or I'm just used to XP. I Played the MTS files on it and it's a little bit choppy.

Now I need tips to run this smoothly without spending more, Without the Stress overload, and I just want to enjoy doing this again. I want to do wedding again for extra bucks and also want to do short form fun stuff like Music videos and maybe a short documentary for the web. Still got my GL-1s and still love them. Do you think GL-1 footage will blend well to mix with GH-1? Dont have the Blueray Burner yet, not in a hurry for that, my final copy will be DVDs. And my HD will be for Vimeo for now until I can afford the Blueray or until it becomes the norm.

I need tips for the editing to Vegas 9.0, shooting with Gh-1 and how to make the bluerays. I already got my vimeo account to upload my 1st sample. Need tips guys... Thanks!!!

You can't compare GH-1 with GL1. They are on completly different planets! I would hardly see how they can mix well.

If you want to edit GH1 footage on anything older/slower than a Quad core, i urge you to transcode in Sony MXF. Very high quality, easy to edit (for an HD format).
Search for scripts that transcode automatically. Vegas works well with AVCHD or MXF.

BTW, i strongly prefer to work with 720 60 p footage than 1080...

Hope this help

Thanks.

I'm totally new with anything about editing HD. Is the MXF already included in Vegas or do I need to get another program for that?

The reason I ask about the GL-1 mix is because I have all footage which I need to edit still. For example, If I make a love story Hilight from an old footage mixed with new HD shots will it renders no problem in the Vegas timeline?

MXF is already there. No need to buy anything. There is absolutely no problem in Vegas to mix different formats.

How about the Script to do this automatic, is it in Vegas or do I need get it somewhere else? I havent run a script in Vegas 4, is there a tutorial for that?
