New "French " Steadycam

Re: New "French " Steadycam

I think 1500 is my limit... That's why I wanted to hear someone else's opinions on the aigle... (prefferibly from someone that is familiar with pro steadicam systems...)

I think the aigle is a very promissing option, I am definately curious to check it out!

Are you working on a product too charles? I didn't know... But that is even more promising...

Re: New "French " Steadycam

Actually it's mine own not a product as such. I'm also working on something else that will help make low budget sleds look and work a little slicker. It's more of a base module that will help in the dynamic balance of the sled in relations to the counter weight - the camera. Nothing new just that it's not affodable for low budget type rigs. Five proto types is being machined so will see if it works out.
Trying to get my 3rd book completed as well. Lots to do.

taubkin, just to give you an idea of my setup. Here is the new base module I'm working on:

"... Seems like a mamooth!"

Well, it is suppose to handle camera weight anywhere from 6,5kg - 23kg so it has to be able to withstand the pressure without torquing.

Like Davethe dog said, have you tried the magiqcam? Couls be something for you and it's well within your budget as their dual arm system goes for about $1400-$1500 if I'm not mistaken.

Re: New "French " Steadycam

Thanks Charles, I did some reading from that DVInfo topic and came to a few conclusions. First one is that I don't mistake you for Charles Papert (and Vice-versa) anymore ;).

Second is that I will put my stabilizer purchases on hold. I'm going to try a training course or a job that actually gives me some experience with that type of setup beforehand. And I still need some sound gear...

And Third is that I'm going to die poor, but with a hell of a lot of video/film equipment and some huge debt accounts... Hope I can raise my kids well to just run from the credors... ;D

Re: New "French " Steadycam

No problem. I know it's confusing with the first names. So we always put the first letter of our last name when we want to refer to the other. Fo example. He would call me Charles K. and I would call him Charles P. :)
