New "French " Steadycam

Has anyone ever seen this product. I wonder how solid it is built. I stumbled upon it and emailed the company and they said that B&H and other larger stores will start carrying it. Price under $1500.

Not yet, but they said that B & H and other large stores will be carrying it before years end.

What is the name of the product so I know to look for it when B&H gets it? I don't interpret French! LOL!

On this link (http://panglao.free.fr/mathiaspardophp/materiel.htm)
The guy said the aigle (eagle) steady is very fluid and it's a good product. Perhaps a little bit heavy but this is a price to pay to have a good quality.
If I'm remember there are some videos on the web site showing the steady in real condition.

BTW, J'aime le france. And you should too. Wonderfull country.

1500 (probably a little more) for a complete rig with vest and articulated arm. Pretty cool, huh? I have to say I wasn't terribly impressed with their sample videos, but I would hold my glidecam buys for now...

Hey Charles!

If you ever get your hands on one of those, I would be very interested in hearing your thoughts!

Re: New "French " Steadycam

Taubkin, I doubt it if I would get a hold of that rig due to the fact that it is new and there are no dealers here in Sweden that know about it yet.
It'll probably take some time or not at all.

I've just completed my arm and did some test. So far, my arm can carry 23.5kg weight with still room for adjustment. Now that is heavy, believe me, especially with my small back problem. ;)

I guess when you folks look for a rig what is the number one criteria that you are looking for? Apparently you can't have it all in a $1500 so there is going to be some sacrifices. So which is it?

Re: New "French " Steadycam

I woudn't mind a heavy unit as long as it is an arm/vest unit and gives me the most possible ammount of stabilization. It would be great if this aigle can compare with the more professional systems in terms of results for this "prosumer" price. I want it for indie/fiction work. If you ask wedding videographers they would probably just want the lightest they can get, and then start to compare fluidness/stabilization from there... Other people's weddings can be a pain, especially with added 25Kg in your back.

Re: New "French " Steadycam

Maybe the question should have been - How much are you willing to spend on a descent stabilizer?
