GH4 New footage

Here's some test footage I shot on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City. Shot in Cine-D, except where noted. The first half was shot with the Lumix 14-140 at f5.6. The second half was shot with an old Nikon 85mm at f 2.8. I used NDs with both. The experience reminded me that image color and contrast are really affected by lens choice. I had to grade the Nikon footage quite differently than the Lumix footage.

If I could change anything, I might actually push the shadows down a notch or two (opposite of the common choice to lift shadows to make a flatter image), as I think with an 8-bit codec, you want to get your image as close to the final look as possible without compromising dynamic range. Once the Atomos Shogun arrives on the scene, and we can record 10-bit, I might choose to shoot a flatter image.

My first weekend out with the GH4. I like that I can switch between 4K, 96fps slow-mo and HD quickly and seamlessly.

I am still learning how to use this camera. How do you switch between those settings quickly and seemlessly. The way I would do that now is to go into the menu, which I don't really consider quickly or seemlessly

Save modes as custom settings on the dial then switch between them as you go.

Some test shots i did at the beach of friends and my kids over the weekend. Full cam specs are in the description on Vimeo. Cine D at 0 contrast and 16-235 feels the way to go for these softer lenses (SLR MAGIC 23 1.7)
