New firmware looks strange

I think that video looks rubbish all jurky motion and not a good example plus I'm bored with looking at snowboarders, must be the post compression they used.

just curious

just curious

What didn't you like ?

maybe your eyes a better trained than mine, I thought it looked pretty good.

Jerky motion that looks like a pull down gone wrong. I wonder if the 24/25 modes in the new firmware are native or if they employ some in-camera-post-production-trick.

That video doesn't play back smoothly for me, whereas other Vimeo ones do, suggesting to me it's the video file itself. Best wait till more 24/25p footage has come out before making a judgement.

oh ok

oh ok

I thought maybe he was just using a higher shutter speed, I wonder if using 25p had anything to do with it. He did mention that. I don't know if it translates to video posted on the internet since I believe 25p is considered PAL and not NTSC.

I'm assuming that there isn't a Pal computer sold in Europe and an NTSC computer sold in USA. I did see the slight shutter look though, It didn't really bother me though.

I guess the more people use it the more we will be able to determine what if anything in the settings is causing it.

I hope that it is a look he was going for and not a flaw with the firmware, that would suck.

Whats your problem??
I am bored by that stuff as well, but in technical sense there is nothing to complain about.

I'm not worried about the results on the vimeo clip.
I will wait to see what others post and what I see in my own results before arriving to any conclusions.
That said, I had to laugh at the moment in the video when the photographer hands the camera over to the snow boarder and does his best to conceal that growing sense of nervousness as he's watching him snowboard with it.

I shot a short today @ 25p no issues with the picture. I shot with a steadicam, shoulder mount, sticks, and a jib. The codec seems cleaner with the higher bit rate averaging about 47Mbps and lower frame rate. The only problem I had was I couldn't record any sound either with an external mic or the internal mic. I could see the record level meters responding but when I hit record nothing was going to the card. I gotta be losing it. Luckily I had an EX1 on hand to dual system the sound.

I've figured out what the problem is. No audio is recorded when the custom user C1 mode dial is selected. When I switch back to the M mode audio recording is restored. There also doesn't appear to be any way to monitor the audio so it's dual system until the next magic lantern update.
