New F3 sold on Ebay

Brand new F3 just sold on Ebay for $7250.
I bet new F3 will be Full frame, 4:2:2 codec inside and perhaps decent 2" vf.

Auction is probably bogus.

And there is no new F3. F3 remains unchanged in product line. Now The New F...

The New F phrase so badly makes me want to say some bad words,...

All kidding, photoshopped images, and ranting aside its great to see Sony drum up some awareness, hype and publicity - even if they are announcing the FS900 ;)

Think that's bad? There's a used F35 for sale on there for $12,500 at the moment... $12,500.

I probably should have bought that instead of my F3, but what are you gonna do? You make the best choice you can.

Perhaps you could give us a link. I just searched eBay completed listings and the lowest I saw F3 units selling for was $9000 or so, with some going for $11,900.

It's worth keeping in mind, that what people are willing to pay for high ticket items on eBay varies greatly depending on a number of factors, including the feedback of the seller. The units selling at the $9000 range appear to be from sellers with less than 100 feedback or so.

Listing an F3 for $11k or more may be quite reasonable, depending on how the unit has been used, the seller's feedback, and what extras are included.

I think an F3 going for $7250 would have been a bogus seller...or at the very least one of those odd blips you occasionally see.

I suspect used pricing on our F3s, based on my personal experience of holding onto my last 4 cameras for about 2 years each (JVCHD100, PDW-F350, Red One), I suspect I'll get about $8500-9000 for mine if I sell in the next 6 months.

Just my guess.

It's not just an F3 but an F3k--with 3 lenses. I emailed the seller and was told this.

It was an auction, not a buy in now. The seller listed it at 4am Western time, one reason why it went for so low. Also the description was very sloppy. I'm not sure that it has to be a scam. Good luck to the lucky buyer.

Yeah, seller, if it is legit, did some pretty dumb things for such a big item. No real pictures, no evidence in description that it's a seller in the business, and an end time that at best is inconvenient for US buyers, and at worst, a hint that the seller is in another part of the world.

I wouldn't have bid on that item at all. No wonder it went for nothing. Yeah, hope that buyer is careful.

That is the identical page that was used in another questionable auction where the camera went for over $11K. I will go out on a limb and say both are bogus. What triggers a removal by eBay is multiple auctions of highly-priced items at below market prices. Scammers are now onto this and have moved to a different tactic.

It's a caveat emptor world and I feel badly for people who fall for it.

Now this F35 does appear to be a real auction

Seller is highly suspicious. To me it looks like a legitimate account that's been hijacked.

Evidence:
*Account feedback stopped in April 2012
*Account seller feedback is for small transactions, mostly under $100.
*Account does list one seller transaction of $350 value in September 2012 - with positive feedback.
*Item details seems to be a press kit copy paste - but curiously, includes plain-text reviewer comments, apparently from someone reviewing the camera description, but without having used the camera yet.
*Account is now active with one item for sale - at $12,000.

I'm virtually 100% confident the buyer won't receive the camera. Someone just lost $7k.

Agree on hijacked account, stock photos? Are you serious.....

Hey for the record the idiot I referred to who listed an F3 for $11k was me!! :D

At least my pictures are real! Took them last night :D

Just because you win a bogus auction doesn't mean you have to lose money. Now the winning buyer can get in contact properly, use escrow etc etc And choose not to pay if it really is a scam.

Buddy, the real evidence is the sellers name: "Wendybeans" - are you friggin kidding me?

Anyway like you said just because someone won doesn't mean they lost anything. It depends how the communication went post auction-close. For example if the seller asked for western union check or some other nigerian scam.

We will never know...

It's easy to check if the seller has knowledge of the camera. Ask a couple of technical questions and request to see newly taken photos. I'm at +400 ebay buys and so far haven't lost a dime.
