I just joined the EX1-R club last week. Come from shooting DSLR over the past year, love the look, but need some more "features" for some of the shoots I do.

So far, I've not been able to match the 5D very well since I don't have a 35mm adapter for the EX. I need to get one ASAP...it's a train-wreck next to the Canon footage since they look so different.

I'm having a tough time getting the footage into FCP. I don't have an SxS reader or laptop so I've been getting a USB connection from the camera to my MacPro and then Log and Transfer the footage. It is PAINFULLY slow.

Any suggestions for a good/fast solution to read the SxS cards? The only think I can find is the Sonnet Qio, which is $$$.

Thanks!

A lot of the MacBook Pro's have SxS slots. Transfer should take 3 mins for 57 min of footage. Even via USB, it's still lots faster than capturing videotape at over an hour per tape!

I seem to have run into some issues regarding use with Apple Color, Cinema Tools, etc.
Do you folks convert the XDCAM to ProRes?
Thanks.

There is also a Sony SxS USB reader: Sony SBAC-US10. It's as 'fast' as the camera (it's also USB), but at least you won't need to use the EX to load footage.
It's never in stock in the Netherlands, but it should exist...

For speed you'll need the Qio I guess.

A cheaper, more flexible option might be an older G4 Powerbook and then sneaker-net it to the edit suite. Any comments on this?
Thanks.
