New edit

disjecta

Lucky Duck
The last Brackendale piece did not do it for me so I decided to chop it up and re-edit it to different music. I wanted to convey more of a sense of barrenness with these particular shots because some of them are so vast in nature, they almost give the impression that they are so much larger than what a video lens is capable of capturing. Thanks to the nice wide angle of the built in lens, it's fairly easy to convey that kind of scale with landscapes. The new music conveys my intention much better with this edit.

This is very short and will fit into the larger piece I am developing. There's a few new scenes in here but most are from the last edit I posted. I like this version much better.

This is the uprezzed version, by the way, using Photozoom Pro.

It's a little over 1 1/2 minutes long. The black line at the bottom is just due to me not cropping the footage precisely.

oh please, please make a feature.

Re: New edit

No he can't go doing that! Then we'd all learn just how bad we really are! :D

Honestly, great work man. Loved every second of it. The upres is particuarily nice.

Re: New edit

Amazing. I was waiting for Mel Gibson to ride in on a horse. Personally, I could live without the shot of the dead fish.

Re: New edit

Really nice again, Have you ever thought of doing a video like this in Tofino? It's a town on the west coast of Vancouver Island, very west coast and scenic.

Re: New edit

I never even heard of it but thanks for the idea. Next time I'm in the area I'll drop by.

Re: New edit

Dam disjecta! Out doing us agian? :) I'm telling you, you need to apply for National Geographic as a photographer. What are you using for compression agian? Agian always beautiful work. I swore I saw that dead fish flipping me off. Thanks for sharing your work.

Re: New edit

Once again I want to know when your classes begin? If I have to DP stuff myself again I'd like to take a week course.

Re: New edit

Did that fish make it? is he going to be ok? He's just resting on that stick right?

Nah, man, that is some good stuff there. That last time-lapse is beautiful with the river flowing. Did you put any of that footage thru Magic Bullet. And this project proves that music is half the battle. Its hauntingly beautiful.

Re: New edit

Basically the fish has had its eyes pecked out by gulls and some of the rest of it half-chewed by eagles. It was an image that was very dominant during my visit so I had to include it here. The fact that he got snagged on a branch was pretty cool and a unique shot.

I used a slight diffusion effect using Magic Bullet on the second last scene (the long timelapse) it helped the footage have a slightly more dreamy look. I also used it to pump the color up a little on the eagle that's flying with the green trees in the background. The original scene was way too blue because of mixed daylight. Other than that, the shots were adjusted for levels and that's about it. I desaturated the fish shot because I shot it in the sun and the water was screaming blue, not compatible with the other shots so much. The opening two shots were not changed from the original footage from the camera at all....that's exactly what they looked like when captured (aside from the uprezzing)

Beautiful, Disjecta. Yes, Tofino is THE scenic spot, but I'd suggest a more dramatic score - it's Canada's storm capital. I can definitely recommend. On the way there, don't forget to stop by Cathedral Grove (http://www.cathedralgrove.com/photos.htm) - another amazing spot with old growth trees. It's just off the highway from Nanaimo to Tofino.

Hope I beat you to it - I'd like to visit next spring.

Re: New edit

That **** was tight yo! I actually liked the dead fish. Disjecta, didn't you have some behind the scenes grabs up one time, and someone commented on your eyepiece? What was that thing, I'd like to get one.

Re: New edit

GREAT AS ALWYS. What i really liked is the inteligent use of timelapse. By avoiding tree movents in the frame made the smooth flowing cloud movement much better. I remember in one of yours and others time lapse shots the eratic tree movements in the frame takes away the beauty of the cloud movement.

Re: New edit

great as usual man...

like the dead fish shot...

id dig seeing you shoot some stuff in a city, and see how you deal with it. could be interesting...
