NEW DVX100B USER With A Few Questions

Hi,

I just became an owner yesterday and I have a few questions. The store that I purchased the DVX was out of them last week. I returned this week (they supposedly were getting 5 pieces in) to find that they had just sold 2 of the 3 that arrived and the last one had been in the display case for about a week. Well, against my better judgement I bought at $100 off. It seems in perfect shape. (After shooting for a while, I found the hours used and it indicated 1 hour, so i guess that is about right) The only thing is that someone had obviously shown the camera to a few people and some of the settings have been changed. Is there any was to return EVERYTHING to the factory setting and clear out the camera.

Also, not that I'd want to often, but is there a simple AUTO mode... I can't find any such thing in the manual.
One more thing, how does one get the most out of anamorphic with this camera without the use of a seperate lens. The XL2 I used before had a great 16:9 image.
I use a Mac G5 with FCE.

Thanks,

V

I think your file settings are in the manual. I changed all of mine to correspond
with some of the settings in Barry Green's book. If you haven't
bought it, you should.

Just go through each knob btw and changed, save each setting. Do you have
manual?

Flip out the LCD screen and hit the small reset button. It will restore all the original factory settings.

The DVX doesn't have a full resolution 16:9 setting. However, I find that I really like the squeeze mode. You lose about 25% resolution, but it still looks great and it's a true 16:9 image (unlike the letterbox mode).
