new dvx100b owner with a few questions

Hi all-
I'm excited to own a brand new dvx100b but I'm new to this camera so I have some questions.
1. I'm shooting a lot of African American faces (light skin to dark) in mixed lighting outdoors in full sunshine and shade. I know, it's tricky no matter what the camera. Any recommendations for how certain settings on the dvx100b might handle this exceptionally well? I'm planning on shooting 24p in squeeze mode. (I searched for this topic but didn't come across anything)
2. I shot some footage with a borrowed dvx100a letterboxed and I want to know if footage I shoot with the b in squeeze mode will match.

Thanks so much!!

There's really not any certain setting to help you, just make sure you expose properly for the faces of your subjects. Is this a run and gun situation, or do you have the ability to stage your shots and bounce a little sunlight on your subjects? Just a bounce card can help you a lot.

The letterboxed footage is 4:3 and the squeeze footage will be 16:9, so you'll probably want to crop the DVX100A's footage so that it'll match the 16:9 squeezed stuff from the B.

Hi-
It's a run and gun situation following people who are working outdoors going from sunlight to shade and shade to sunlight and back again. It's tricky and I'm not able to use a bounce card so I guess I just need to ride the iris and expose for a variety of faces as best I can. Thanks for the response!

This may sound silly but, make sure you expose for faces (dark or light) and don't worry as much about your background getting overexposed - or even blown out. If you have a beautiful sky and trees, but can't see the subject's face that's a problem. I always shoot with zebras on and make sure the faces are properly exposed. If you can use a flexfil, the gold side is nice on darker skin. good luck.
