New DVX100B Documentary

Hey everyone, after 8 months of lurking on this site and learning, then going out and filming my documentary, I'm finally done! It is a cycling documentary about week long bike events in the United States.

It was shot with my DVX100B using a Manfrotto tripod with a Bogen 503 head, and edited using Premeire Pro 2.0. I think the quality is great, and I love my DVX!

Here are some clips :

If you are interested in seeing the project DVD, I have created a "Discount" area for peeps from DVXuser.com.
It is here : http://www.thebigring.com/hookup/

Thanks everyone for the inspiration and help!

What do you mean "get on RAGBRAI"?

It is 1 segment of the doc...if that is what you are referring to.

. . . Sorry I don't have clips of the doc, but if you are interested in seeing the project DVD, I have created a "Discount" area for peeps from DVXuser.com . . .

What, No clips? . . . not even a trailer!

With respect, I think you may want to reconsider that.

Anyhow, congrats on completing your project.

I would be interested in your perspective as to why a documentary like this requires a trailer. I understand that it is nice to give the audience some idea as to what a FEATURE FILM is about, or some off camber genre that doesn't speak for itself, but a trailer for a documentary such as this doesn't make as much sense. The website lays out the general synopsys as to what the doc is about : a documentary about 3 multi-day cycling events in the U.S. The clips and "Story Line" are the allure of purchasing the DVD...I understand how you can see it in another light. But...I just wanted to give members of the site the ability to see what a completed DVX100B project can look like (sorry it isn't free, but 11 bucks is nothing but a small hangover). And show what can be done on a very small budget and still have a high value production. If you have legitimate reasons for wanting a trailer, I would be interested in hearing them, as it isn't out of the question. But the fact is, I'm not marketing to a mass audience. My audience are cyclists, and people that have a general understanding of what cycling is all about. I realize most people on this site don't care about the subject matter of my doc, but it is merely here for those who are curious about what others are able to do with their dvx100b. I planned this project. Filmed it all. Did all the interviews. Edited the Doc. Created the artwork for the case and DVD. And am about to start my marketing plan. If you are interested in what can be done with some motivation and some creativity that doesn't require a large budget (try under 10K, including equipment), then have a look.

To be honest, posting a few clips is fair. And I will look at capturing some. I got so excited when my DVD's were finally delivered I wanted to share them. (quite the learning process. I hope to post in the future on my experience with creating an entire DVD project solo, but that will have to wait for a day when I have the apparent equivalent of time to kill on my PC)

Thanks for the input, I realize this post was long winded. And I don't mean to be an ass.
;)

you need a trailer,,,,You need to hook the people. I've seen plenty of trailers for documentaries.

to be fair.....

to be fair.....

To be fair.......you are a dvx user and we share things here. Like advice and support and in your own words it may not interest most of the users on this forum in the context of subject matter but you are losing a chance to get some valuable feeback on you as an artist/creator/storyteller.

I beg you to rethink your position - not for me or the users but for yourself.

Think of it this way - in the past few years books that have been made available for download free of charge have enjoyed increased physical book sales. Only recently Disney conceded that "piracy" has had an impact on their sales and the value of brands due to mass distribution.
Don't fear the net or the people out there who will give you back just by mentioning your project or passing on th link for someone to see.

I do not expect you will get that kind of interest by just a synopsis on a website.

Oh yes.......CONGATULATIONS - you have completed a milestone and I hope you continue to move forward...

All the best,

the screen grabs are very eye-catching and the colours are crisp. looks like there is some nice cinematography there. look forward to seeing more of it :-)
