New DVX User & Screen Grabs

Hey Guys,

I've been reading the board for a while now but i only signed up today as i am now technically a DVX user :P

I hired a DVX to shoot my Y12 Media film, along with other various equipment, and i must say it is an awesome camera.

But aside from that I've chucked some links to some screens grabs of the footage I shot. Its raw, like i havent done any levels or colour correction, so please take a look and if you have any suggestions for post please post, or just tell me what you think.

Petey,

First of all, welcome aboard....

I think your choice of screen grabs is not good. The second one is just basically a blur in low lighting....

Try grabbing some clearer stills (where there is not a lot of movement in the shot) and I'm sure you will get more feedback...

I like the first one a lot...could use more contrast maybe, but it's a cool angle and looks really good, especially with the fog. The second ones have a nice warm color to them, but don't really stand out as anything special, imo. Probably they're good shots, just talking on the phone (and being blurry) aren't the most exciting actions. That said, they all look pretty good, the last two probably just need to be seen in some sort of context.

as you will probably notice some of the grabs are interlaced >:( During shooting i think i must have accidentally swtiched it off progressive, i was so pissed off when i noticed this, i guess i will just have to shoot those scenes again, u can really notice the difference.

these screens should be a bit better, if u would like to have them put in context you can grab the script for the movie off my site and have a little read :)

in post i plan to do colour correction, play with the levels, and maybe with masking add some depth of field.

24pA and 24p footage have some interlaced frames until pulldown is removed. Your frames look good, btw.

I go to Carey Baptist Grammar school in Kew...

pretty far away from geelong :)


also with the interlaced footage Policar i think that it must have been swtiched because all the frames after a point seem to be interlaced and of a noticably lower quality :(
