New Dvx Music Video

Congratulations! Just a junior member here but I thought you had great camera work, lighting and editing. I was not expecting it. Good job man.

This is badass, great job. The jump cuts to the beat are perfick! I love Barry Greens signature thing it's so true.

very nice,
only thing I could comment on, is that the lightining with the red background seemed a bit dark so there is a brightness/milkyness issue.. but nothing the average hip hop video fan would notice.

i agree with RC23 maybe increase the contrast a little to cut through the milkiness that usually works for me. great job it looks very proffesional.

ditto with the lighting on the red background shots. I thought you had the perfect blend of footage to edit with...the only thing I would have liked to see is some shots of the second rapper in the red background shots just to mix that part of the song up alittle better.

Good job!

i like the smooth milkiness. looks like there is more latitude. more like film and not like hard contrasty video. great work

Not bad. I thought some of the scenes were dark or the lighting wasn't even all the way across the screen. I don't know if that was your way of setting the mood or if you just didnt have another light to light the other side of the shot. You mentioned that its a pain to upload to myspace and youtube. What site did you use because I didnt see any quality issues with this video like I would on those sites.

Thanks everyone for the comments!!

On the milkiness.. i agree! i will probably go in and bump up the contrast a bit.. i try not to use contrast to much and instead mess with the levels.. but i think it should be fine here.

on that note.. i've been trying hard to get crisp clean color correction.. i've seen guys take a dvx image shot in front of a
basic household light and crush it and make it look GREAT!!..

ideas on making Black black.. and outputing crisp colors as much as possible for a SD camera.

Just curious about location clearance when you guys film these videos, do you actually go to the trouble of getting depiction releases from all these people and written permission form owner of property or do you just kinda do it and don't worry about it...

Being that I am working on a full feature film I have had to learn the legal aspect of filming real quick, because with a film if you don't have proper paperwork / clearances / releases you are opening yourself up for a lawsuit... If your film ends up doing well ;)...

So do you guys worry about it or just wing it?

PS: You did everything yourself, that's a thumb up in my book (and just when I thought I was the only one crazy enough to wear all the hats!! LOL)

Deuceofspades - Thank You! I like doing everything myself but man! it's getting hectic...I feel like my work could be alot cleaner and polished if got some help instead of being stubborn. hahah

Well the club announced the shoot on radio and said that there would be filming.. we had a you walk in you agree waiver at the door... would it hold up..i think so.. but in out legal system WHO KNOWS!

I guess it all depends what your waiver reads... but most importantly did you get the owner of the club to sign location release?

oh for sure! thats an always! hahah another good thing about music videos is you usually don't make $$$ on a music video (as in royalty's..that i know of) so people are less likely to pursue cash like a film.
